WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. The fifth-leading scorer in the nation is a Boilermaker. On Sunday, Purdue women’s basketball head coach Katie Gearlds officially welcomed Hannah Wickstrom to the program heading into her junior year.

A native of Melbourne, Australia, Wickstrom was fifth in the country last season in scoring at 23.4 points per game on 48.5% shooting, while knocking down 48 3-pointers at a 34% clip as a sophomore. Wickstrom ranked in the top 30 in free throws, going 146-of-176 at the line.

In 29 appearances last year, she tallied 28 games in double figures with 21 outings of 20 points or more and six 30-point performances, including a career-high 36 points at Hawaii.

Wickstrom was the only player in the nation to average better than 20 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game, adding 7.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.7 steals per night to her scoring output.

A First Team All-Big West selection, Wickstrom joined Vanderbilt’s Mikayla Blakes, Notre Dame’s Hannah Hidalgo and Iowa State’s Audi Crooks as the only four players in the nation with a usage rate of 34% or higher (Wickstrom – 34%), a true shooting clip of 55% (Wickstrom - 58.2%) and turnover rate under 15% (Wickstrom – 13.6%).

Wickstrom garnered Big West All-Freshman Team honors in 2024-25, averaging 7.7 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game. She finished in double figures 11 games as rookie.

During her prep career, Wickstrom was selected to the Basketball Victoria (BV) National Performance Program, earning caps to the 2018 and 2019 Southern Cross Challenge as part of a tour to Spain. She led the Sandringham Sabres to second place at the 2018 U14 Club Championships and guided New South Wales to a 2023 U20 National Championship.

Wickstrom is the second Australian in Purdue history after Abbey Ellis, who became the first transfer to score 1,000 points in a Boilermaker career.
