WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Eight members of Purdue Swimming & Diving, all having made the grade with 3.5-plus cumulative grade-point averages, have earned spots on the Academic All-District Team as selected by the College Sports Communicators.
Representing Purdue Swimming & Diving includes…
• Senior swimmer Ana Rojas (Colorado Springs, Colo.) – 3.76 GPA as a public health major
• Senior swimmer Dylan Burau (Wheaton, Ill.) – 3.64 GPA as a chemical engineering major
• Senior diver Daryn Wright (Plainfield, Ind.) – 3.52 GPA as a retail management major
• Junior diver Max Miller (Conroe, Texas) – 3.69 GPA as a general management major

• Sophomore swimmer Campbell Scofield (Potomac, Md.) – 3.54 GPA as a biological sciences major
All eight Boilermakers now advance to the Academic All-America ballot. They were all named Academic All-Big Ten earlier this month and many will be among Purdue Athletics’ Big Ten Distinguished Scholars when the league announces those honorees over the summer.
Wright and Miller were recognized as Academic All-District for the second year in a row.
Together, these exemplary student-athletes once again helped Purdue earn Scholar All-America Team honors from the College Swimming Coaches Association this winter. The women were recognized for a 3.61 team GPA during the 2025 fall semester and the men were honored for their 3.21 team mark. Both GPAs were up from the fall semester marks in 2024.
The Academic All-District and Academic All-America programs continue to strive to spotlight student-athletes that achieve dual success in athletic and academic accomplishments.
Wright (silver on platform in 2026) and Springfield (bronze are platform in 2025) are medalists at the NCAA Championships as well as All-Americans. Wright closed out her career as a four-time Big Ten medalist and five-time All-American.
Miller won the Big Ten title on 1-meter this season and is now a four-time All-American. Welsh earned his first career All-America accolades this season as all six of Purdue’s men’s divers qualified for NCAAs.
Burau eclipsed the program record in the 200 backstroke at the end of his sophomore season and helped Purdue’s 200 freestyle relay qualify for the NCAA Championships this year. Phipps was a Big Ten Swimmer of the Week honoree this season and went on to race on all five of the Boilermakers’ relays at the Big Ten Championships, a rare feat. She ranks among the program’s all-time leaderboards in four individual events (50, 100, 200 free and 100 fly) and helped Purdue set a team record in the 400 free relay this season.
Scofield is fourth in team history in her premier event – the 200 butterfly – and has finished top 10 in the event at Big Tens each of her first two seasons. Rojas raced on three relays at Big Tens this season and ranks among the Boilermakers’ all-time leaderboard in the 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly.
Burau and Rojas both plan to compete again next season as fifth-year seniors after injuries earlier in their careers led to redshirt years. Rojas earned her bachelor's degree in December and is currently pursuing a master's in public health.
The Academic All-District and Academic All-America program underwent an overhaul in the summer of 2022. Among the changes was the creation of swimming & diving-specific Academic All-District and Academic All-America teams. Previously, swimming & diving was part of the at-large group with golf, tennis, wrestling, ice hockey and a variety of other sports. Swimming & diving annually produced the most Academic All-District & All-America selections on the at-large ballot and thus the decision to spotlight the sport individually like the majority of the other prominent team sports as well as track & field/cross country.
The Academic All-District selection process also received a significant overhaul across all sports after the 2021-22 school year. The minimum GPA requirement was raised from 3.3 to 3.5 – with freshmen remaining ineligible. Instead of voting for Academic All-District honorees for the eight districts (regions of the country) at the NCAA Division I level, each university now designates a selected number of eligible student-athletes to be recognized as Academic All-District and automatically advance to the Academic All-America ballot. That number of honorees for swimming & diving was set at four per gender.
From 2010 to 2022 when Academic All-District student-athletes were selected via a regional vote as part of the competitive at-large category, Purdue Swimming & Diving produced at least one honoree every season. Christine Inman (2010), Lauren Gustafson (2013), Jamie Bissett (2014-15), Marat Amaltdinov (2017-18) and Ben Bramley (2021-22) all went on to earn Academic All-America accolades.
