WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue senior shooting guard Fletcher Loyer has been selected to compete in the State Farm College Slam Dunk and 3-Point Championships on April 3 in Indianapolis.
Loyer is one of eight men’s players that will compete in the E*TRADE 3-Point Championship taking place at Hinkle Fieldhouse on Friday, April 3, at 7 p.m. ET. The event will air on Sunday, April 5, at 1:30 p.m. ET, on ESPN.
As a bookend to his career, Loyer will be attempting to win the same title he did as a high school senior before he entered Purdue. In 2022, Loyer won the high school 3-point championship at the Final Four in New Orleans, defeating Duke’s Kyle Filipowski in the finals.
Loyer wrapped up a sensational career at Purdue, setting the school record for games played (149), games started (149) and career 3-pointers made (309) while ranking 11th on Purdue’s career scoring list (1,829 points).
This past season, Loyer made 112-of-259 (.432) from long distance, ranking second on the Purdue single-season 3-pointers made list. He ended his career having made multiple 3-pointers in 19 straight games, going 66-of-136 (.485) during that span. The 19 straight games with multiple 3-pointers are a school record.
He ranked second in the Big Ten in total 3-pointers made and his 43.2 percentage was tops in the Big Ten and 14th nationally. Since Feb. 1, he led the country in 3-pointers made (64) and was at his best in the postseason, averaging 15.6 points, 2.6 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game while making 27-of-56 (.482) from long distance in eight postseason games, helping Purdue to the Big Ten Tournament championship and an appearance in the Elite Eight.
Loyer is one of just four Big Ten players in league history to score at least 1,800 points, dish out 300 assists, make 300 free throws and 300, 3-pointers in a four-year career (Michigan State’s Shawn Respert, Penn State’s Talor Battle, Penn State’s Joe Crispin).
Loyer is also one of four players in school history (Robbie Hummel, E’Twaun Moore, Walter Jordan) to score at least 375 points in all four seasons at Purdue.
