WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Austin Klug and Jake Kramer teamed up for 6 1/3 scoreless innings and Aaron Manias drove in the go-ahead run with a two-out single in the seventh inning, propelling Purdue Baseball to a 3-2 victory vs. Valparaiso on Tuesday at Alexander Field.

The Boilermakers (16-7) improved to 4-1 on their six-game homestand and 6-3 in one-run games this season.

Shortstop Westin Boyle made the top defensive play of the season by a Boilermaker in the top of the seventh, going deep in the hole to rob the Beacons’ 9-hole hitter Case Sullivan of a base hit. It proved to be a big play because it followed a leadoff single and Valpo went on to score twice in the frame, tying the game on Cal Schembra’s two-out double.

Consecutive two-out hit batsmen set the stage for Manias in the bottom half of the frame. Valpo (6-14) went to reliever Nick Baffa and Manias greeted him with a line drive into right center on the first pitch to give Purdue the lead back.

Sam Flores’ RBI double opened the scoring, plating Eli Anderson in the third inning. After an error advanced Flores to third, he scored on an RBI ground out from CJ Richmond.

STREAKS EXTENDED

Brandon Rogers: 16-game on-base; 11-game on-base at home (since May 3, 2025); 5-game hit
Westin Boyle: 10-game on-base; 7-game on-base at home
Dylan Drake: 9-game hit (6 consecutive multi-hit games); 6-game hit at home

Klug struck out four over four innings in his fourth start of the season. He retired the first five batters of the game in order, worked around a leadoff double in the third inning and left the bases loaded in the top of the fourth.

Kramer (3-3) retired seven of the eight batters he faced, including a 1-2-3 ninth inning. The biggest out was the first he recorded, stranding inherited runners on second and third while keeping the game tied in the top of the seventh.

Noah Filer posted zeros in the fifth and sixth innings as the bridge between Klug and Kramer. The freshman retired seven of the nine batters he faced, including a 1-2-3 sixth inning.

The Boilermakers close out their six-game homestand Wednesday vs. UIC. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
