JOHNS ISLAND, S.C. Samantha Brown fired a 1-under 71 in Tuesday’s final round, leading Purdue Women’s Golf to a seventh-place finish in the 15-team Briar’s Creek Invitational. The Boilermakers carded a 293 (+5) for the second straight day to secure the eighth-best 36-hole team total in program history (293-293—586).

With Tuesday’s performance, Brown earned her fifth Top 20 finish of the season, tying for 16th on the individual leaderboard at even-par (73-71—144). Her two-day total tied for the 10th-lowest individual 36-hole score in school history. The sophomore played the par 4s well, ranking second in the 87-player field in par-4 scoring (-3). She went 3-under on the par 4s during Tuesday’s round, making three birdies and zero bogeys on those holes. While she bogeyed a pair of par 5s and one par 3, another birdie on the par-3 fourth helped Brown card her team-leading 14th round of par-or-better this season. She made nine birdies over the 36 holes, tied for the fourth-most in the field.

Ashley Kim shot 73 (+2) for the second straight day to etch her name in the Top 20 for lowest 36-hole totals in the Purdue record book. Luana Valero also matched her opening round score, carding a 74 (+2) to finish 4-over for the tournament. Ella Weber tied Valero at 4-over after a 75 (+3) in the final round that contributed to the team score.

Competing as an individual, Ida Lindqvist broke a school record for 36-hole total by a freshman, besting Valero’s score of 146 (74-72) at last week’s Shootout at Wachesaw. Following a career-low 70 (-2) in the first round that featured back-to-back eagles, Lindqvist added a final round 74 (+2) to set the new freshman mark (70-74—144). Her even-par finish matched Brown for 16th place and produced her best showing as a Boilermaker.

Michaela Headlee, also appearing in the tournament as an individual, shot 73 (+1) and finished 4-over for the event. The sophomore ranked fourth in the field in par-5 scoring (-3) throughout the two days.

Purdue takes one week off before returning to the links. Ending the month of March, the Boilermakers travel to St. Augustine, Florida to defend their title at the Coach Mo Classic (March 30-31).
