LUBBOCK, Texas – Purdue Track & Field’s Alexia Smith won the 400m to lead the Boilermakers in the first of two days at the Corky Classic.

Men’s Notes

Seamus Malaski took third in the weight throw (20.60m / 67-07.00). It is his third top five finish in as many events to start his collegiate career.
Samuel Vessat finished sixth in the 400m (46.88A) in his first open 400m race as a Boilermaker. The time enters Purdue's record book at No. 3. Converted to 46.99 for national ranking purposes, Vessat currently sits ninth in the country. 
Zyan Greene ran 47.05A in his first 400m as a Boilermaker and took eighth. The time ranks fifth in school history and his converted time of 47.16 ranks 11th nationally.
Zion Jackson advanced to the 60mH semifinal and finished (8.18A) in his Purdue debut. 

Women’s Notes
• Smith earned the first event victory of Purdue’s season when she went 52.52A in the 400m. The performance jumped Smith up one spot to No. 3 in Purdue's all-time rankings. Her converted time of 52.63 currently stands No. 2 in the country. 
Britannie Johnson opened the meet with a runner-up finish in the weight throw 19.68m (64-06.75) to improve her personal best and move up to No. 7 in school history. She three personal bests through two meets this season and has already thrown 0.79m further than last season.
Zoe Sullivan finished third in the 60mH (8.17A) for her second top three finish in as many meets to begin the season. Her converted time of 8.19 is currently 13th in the country. 
Gia Clay finished ninth in the 400m (54.42) and enters Purdue’s program rankings at No. 10. The time bests her top outdoor time by 0.40 and her top indoor time by 2.34. 
Nia Wilson advanced to the semifinals on the 60m (7.40A) and finished 11th in the field of 72 total runners.
• Three additional Boilers advanced to the 60mH semifinals: Alexa Adams (16th), Leena Pfister (19th) and Angeline Amefia (21st).
