COLUMBUS, Ohio – Five program records – three team and two freshman – along with 55 Boilermakers scoring in at least one individual event highlighted the weeklong showings for the Purdue Swimming & Diving teams at their midseason showcase meet, the Ohio State Invitational.
The women had 28 student-athletes score in at least one individual event, headlined by a sweep of the springboard diving events by Daryn Wright and Caitlin Hurley scoring in four individual races at a fall invitational for the third consecutive year.
The men had 27 student-athletes score in at least one individual event, 10 of them scoring in all three of their events. Max Miller was victorious in 1-meter diving, an event in which the Boilermakers had five of the top nine finishers. Tyler Wills was top 10 in all three diving events to earn top scorer honors for the men.

NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS QUALIFYING TIMES
• Alex Hotta – 46.04, 100 Back; 46.08, 100 Fly
• Janis Dzirkalis – 19.32, 50 Free
• Blake Rowe – 1:41.43, 200 Back
• Maxwell Blume – 1:54.87, 200 Breast

Hurley posted lifetime bests in all four of her events – moving up the all-time leaderboards in the 100, 200, 500 and 1650 free. She finished top 10 in three events and accounted for a team-high 91 points in the individual events. Headlined by his 400 IM record, Evan Mackesy also posted four lifetime bests that elevated his name on the all-time leaderboards (also 200 & 500 free, 200 IM). Alex Hotta did likewise in four events – 100 and 200 fly, 100 free, 100 back.
The Purdue women eclipsed one of their relay records for the first time since the 2019 Big Ten Championships. Hurley, Lara Phipps, Adele Sands and Hannah Hill teamed up to take down a 400 free relay record that had stood since the 2011 Big Ten Championships. It shared longest standing honors with the 200 free relay.
Mackesy eclipsed Guillermo Blanco’s 400 IM record that had stood since January 2014. Blake Rowe overtook teammate Dylan Burau’s 200 backstroke benchmark, making the event the only one in which active Boilermakers currently rank 1-2 on an all-time leaderboard. Mackesy and Rowe have now eclipsed both the freshman and program records in their premier events before Thanksgiving of their sophomore seasons.
Including the record-breaking swims of Jānis Dzirkalis (50 free) and Biko Hooper-Haviland (200 fly) in Columbus, across the men’s and women’s teams, nine freshman records are now held by active Boilermakers. Hooper-Haviland has lowered the 200 fly freshman benchmark three times in November alone.
