MEET INFORMATION
Purdue Men & Women host the Dan Ross Indiana Intercollegiate
Saturday, Oct. 11 at Noon ET
Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center / West Lafayette, Indiana
The Field: Ball State, Butler, Evansville, IU Indy, Southern Indiana, Valparaiso, UIndy, Rose-Hulman, Wabash, Indiana Wesleyan
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The home season begins at the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center as Purdue Swimming & Diving hosts teams from 10 other universities from across the state for the annual October showcase, the Dan Ross Indiana Intercollegiate.
The co-ed meet continues to feature its traditional noon start and 12 events – 10 swimming races and springboard diving. The Purdue Divers are set to make their season debut Saturday. Admission is free for all meets at the Burke Aquatic Center this season.
No breaks coupled with flyover starts typically allows the meet to wrap up by 3:30 p.m. But this year a 500 freestyle relay – featuring 10 swimmers per team all racing a 50-yard leg – is replacing the traditional 500 free individual race. With each university allotted only one 500 free relay team per gender, the event change should shorten the meet as well.
Purdue, Ball State, Evansville, IU Indy, Southern Indiana, Valparaiso, UIndy, Rose-Hulman and Indiana Wesleyan will all have co-ed representation Saturday. They’ll be joined by the Butler women and Wabash men.

A notable name was added to Purdue’s first large meet of the season in the summer of 2023. The in-state showcase is now known as the Dan Ross Indiana Intercollegiate, with the moniker recognizing the longtime head coach of the Boilermakers who retired in June 2023 after 42 years as a staff member. Ross introduced the Indiana Intercollegiates meet for the 2001-02 season as the Boilermakers moved into the Burke Aquatic Center. For more than 20 years, Ross’ inclusive philosophy led to the meet annually featuring a bevy of Indiana-based teams of all sizes and divisions (NCAA and NAIA) competing alongside each other on an October Saturday at one of the state’s premier facilities.
Since its debut in October 2001, the Dan Ross Indiana Intercollegiate has been held every fall except 2020. It annually serves as the largest single-day home meet of the season for the Boilermakers. This season it’s also the largest home meet overall. This year’s Oct. 11 date is the earliest the meet has been held since 2009 (Oct. 10). It was on Oct. 12 last year and Oct. 13 in 2018.
Last year at the Dan Ross Indiana Intercollegiate, Hannah Hill broke the Purdue record in the 50 free on the leadoff leg of the victorious 200 free relay. She eclipsed Lauren Gustafson’s program record (22.49) that had stood since 2013.
Senior Daryn Wright has won a diving event at the Dan Ross Indiana Intercollegiate each of the last three years, sweeping the springboards as both a freshman and sophomore. On the swimming side, Wright’s classmates Abby Marcukaitis (2023, 2024), Andy Kelly (2022, 2023) and Brinly Hardy (2022, 2023) have also won an individual event in multiple years at the annual meet. It traditionally features medley relay team comprised of classmates and last year the Purdue Divers opted team up for an entry in the 200 free relay.
The Boilermakers open their dual meet schedules next weekend when they host Missouri for the only true co-ed dual of the season at the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center.
