Women's Tennis to Begin Season

The Purdue women's tennis program is slated to open its spring season this weekend with a pair of home matches at Schwartz Tennis Center. The Boilermakers will open their season Saturday vs. Illinois State at 10 a.m. ET followed by Butler on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue women's tennis program is slated to open its spring season this weekend with a pair of home matches at Schwartz Tennis Center. The Boilermakers will open their season Saturday vs. Illinois State at 10 a.m. ET followed by Butler on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET. Admission to Schwartz Tennis Center is free.
 
The Boilermakers enter the year with four in the ITA singles rankings, including No. 73 Fatima Gutierrez, No. 82 Ece Gencer, No. 101 Ida Clement, and No.103 Carmen Callardo Guevara. In comparison with its upcoming opponents, Purdue is the only team to feature four ranked in singles.

Purdue has the opportunity to face a ranked doubles opponent in Illinois State's No. 117-ranked Nuria Sanz and Elena Jankulovska.
 
MEET THE TEAM

Ece Gencer
The freshman from Turkey was named a Big Ten Player to Watch ahead of the upcoming 2025 season.  With a current ranking of No. 82 in singles nationally, she tallied a 10-3 record in her first fall season and punched a ticket to the main draw of the ITA Ohio Valley Regional.
 
Carmen Gallardo Guevara
Gallardo Guevara is currently ranked No. 103 in singles following a 9-5 record in the fall, including a win against a ranked opponent. She finished her fall season at the NCAA Singles Championship where she was defeated in the Round of 64 and currently owns 68 career singles victories. Going into the spring, she's tied for 14th in career singles victories with 68.
 
Juana Larranaga
The senior went 9-5 in singles and 4-3 in doubles in fall play. In her junior season, she played in all 23 dual matches and registered four doubles and three singles victories in conference battles.
 
Kathryn Wilson
In her first fall with the Boilermakers, Wilson recorded a 6-4 record in singles and a 6-5 record in doubles. She was the No.1 ranked player in Indiana and No. 10 in the Great Lakes Region in high school and was a two-time Indiana Singles State Champion.
 
Tara Katarina Milic
Milic produced two wins over ranked opponents on her way to a 6-6 record last fall. She has a total of 46 doubles victories, going 16-14 at No. 1. In her junior season, she defeated No. 69 Karly Friedland/Olivia Dorner in doubles play from Penn State.
 
Ida Clement
In her first fall with the Boilermakers, she competed at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional and finished her season with a 6-4 doubles record. She currently ranks No. 101 on the ITA rankings in singles.
