WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue track & field head coach Norbert Elliott has announced that Cameron Miller will join the program as a graduate transfer and is eligible immediately for the 2024 season.
Miller comes to the Boilermakers from Louisville, where he had a breakout 2022-23 season that included four All-America honors and an ACC title in the 200-meter, one of four conference medals he won with the Cardinals. Miller also ran at Florida and was an SEC runner-up in the 200m in 2022.
"We are very fortunate and excited to have Cameron join our team," Elliott said. "He brings such good leadership, and I know that the work ethic he brings will rub off on his teammates. He is undoubtedly one of the nation's best sprinters, so we definitely are excited to utilize his skill set here at Purdue."
A native of Dallas, Texas, Miller earned first team All-America accolades in the indoor and outdoor 200m and in the 4x100 relay in 2023. He also added Honorable Mention All-America honors in the 4x400 relay a year ago. Miller's success at conference championships has yielded him All-ACC First Team, All-ACC Second Team and All-SEC Second Team distinctions throughout his career.
"I am excited to be a part of the Purdue track & field team," Miller said. "I know there is a lot of tradition here and high expectations, and I'm excited to perform at a high level and help raise the bar that's been set."
Miller broke the Louisville records in the 200m, 300m and 4x400 relay indoors in 2023 before winning gold in the 200m and silver in the 4x400 at the ACC Championships. The 200m time of 20.27 seconds also was an ACC Championships record. Miller then was fourth in the country in the 200m at the NCAA Championships and was bestowed with First Team All-America honors.
Outdoors last season, Miller set school records in the 200m, 4x100 and 4x400. He was sixth nationally in the 4x100, eighth in the 200m and 22nd in the 4x400 at the NCAA Championships. That earned him two more First Team All-America accolades and an Honorable Mention award, as Miller became the first athlete in team history to be recognized with All-America distinction in three different events in the same season. Miller's performance at nationals came after a runner-up finish in the 4x400 and a bronze-medal performance in the 4x100 at the ACC Championships.
At Florida from 2020-22, Miller was second at the 2022 SEC Championships in the indoor 200m to collect All-SEC Second Team accolades and ran the seventh-fastest indoor 200m in school history. He also earned SEC Co-Men's Runner of the Week honors in January 2020.
Miller owns a personal-best 200m time of 20.17 seconds outdoors and 20.27 indoors, both set in 2023. Indoors, he also boasts a PR of 32.94 in the 300m and 6.77 in the 60m, set in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
Prior to his collegiate career, Miller won silver in the 200m at the 2018 USATF National Junior Olympic Championships. He won five Texas state championships at Bishop Dunne, two in the 200m (2018 and 2019) and three in the 4x100 (2017, 2018 and 2019). Miller was the state runner-up in the 200m in 2017.
