SCOUTING THE COMPETITION Match 1: Indianapolis
The Greyhounds are the first match of the tri for the Boilermakers. The two programs have faced off just nine times in their history despite the short distance between them. Purdue has won all nine contests.

The most recent occasion and the only time the teams have faced with Ersland at the helm was back in November 2016. Purdue won 31-6 led by tech falls from Cody Pae and Alex Griffin. Future All-American Dylan Lydy and Christian Brunner made their dual debuts in the match.

Match 2: Northern Illinois
The final dual of the day will be against the Huskies. Purdue has wrestled against NIU 33 times, holding a 24-8-1 record. The Boilermakers have won the last 10 duals and are 6-0 under Ersland.

The Huskies competed in the 2022 edition of the Boilermaker Duals. Matt Ramos kicked things off with an 13-3 major decision of Blake West before Dustin Norris, Parker Filius, Kendall Coleman, Ben Vanadia, Hayden Filipovich and Tristan Ruhlman all added their own wins to see Purdue to an easy victory.
LAST TIME OUT Last weekend the Boilermakers traveled to Bethlehem, Pa., to compete in two Journeymen Wrestling events, Wranglemania and the Collegiate Classic. The team split their duals on Saturday, beating Army 21-16 before dropping their matchup with No. 3 N.C. State.

True freshman Joey Blaze led the way for Ersland's squad, going 2-0 with both wins coming against ranked opponents. He finished the day with a 4-1 sudden victory win over No. 5 Ed Scott of N.C. State.

In the Collegiate Classic round robin tournament, a true freshman shined the brightest once again for the Boilermakers. Greyson Clark went 3-0 on the day to take first place in his pool at 141 pounds.
SIGNED, SEALED, DELIVERED Ersland welcomed Chris Coates, Wyatt Krejsa, and Isaiah Quintero to the Boilermaker family last week as the 2024 Purdue Wrestling signing class. A group that is smaller in numbers more than makes up for it in talent and pedigree and is trending to give Ersland his seventh top-25 recruiting class.

The group combined holds four state titles and two runner up finishes already with senior seasons still to come. Quintero and Coates come in as the No. 49 and No. 80 ranked prospects in the class, giving Ersland 20 top-100 recruits in his 10 years as head coach at Purdue.
NEWS & NOTES • Head coach Tony Ersland is entering his 10th season at the helm of Purdue Wrestling and holds a 75-67 dual record.
• In 2023 Matt Ramos finished with a 35-5 record which put him in a tie for 12th for wins and a tie for 10th for win percentage in a single season in program history.
• His career record of 62-17 (0.785) already has him sitting in eighth for best career winning percentage.
Joey Blaze's upset of No. 5 Ed Scott from N.C. State was the first win by an unranked Boilermaker over a top-10 opponent since December of 2019 when a young Thomas Penola pinned No. 9 Quinn Miller of Virginia.
