RALEIGH, N.C. – The second week of the outdoor season sends the Purdue track & field team to the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, North Carolina, from March 23-25.

RALEIGH, N.C. – The second week of the outdoor season sends the Purdue track & field team to the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, North Carolina, from March 23-25.
 
Seven Boilermaker distance runners are set to race at Paul Derr Track, beginning on Thursday, March 23, with the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase at 5:44 p.m. ET. The opening day for Purdue concludes with runners in two sections of the men's 5,000m, at 7:21 p.m. and 7:53 p.m. On Friday, March 24, the Boilermakers race in the women's 1,500m at 4:20 p.m. The three-day meet concludes on Saturday, as Purdue will be represented in the women's 800m at 1:45 p.m.

Hosted by North Carolina State, the Raleigh Relay field includes Big Ten foes Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota and Ohio State racing in the Boilermakers' events.
 
LAST TIME OUT: OUTDOOR OPENER AT MIAMI
The Old Gold and Black began the 2023 outdoor season at the Hurricane Invitational in Coral Gables, Florida, and at the Blizzard Buster in Oxford, Ohio, from March 17-18.
 
Fifth-year Justin Becker ran the seventh-fastest 200-meter time in the Boilermaker record books and fellow fifth-year Johnny Vanos won the hammer throw to highlight the weekend. Purdue notched 12 top-three finishes and 18 Boilermakers made their outdoor collegiate debuts at the two meets.

A YEAR AGO IN RALEIGH
Then-fifth-year Curt Eckstein ran the second-fastest 10,000-meter time in Purdue history to lead the Boilermakers at the 2022 Raleigh Relays from March 25-26. Eckstein's top-10 time was one of three personal-best marks, and two more ran in their first collegiate outdoor meet.
 
A time of 28:54.93 by Eckstein moved him up to No. 2 in the record books as he finished 17th overall in the 10,000m. His time was the fastest since 2015 and just behind Matt McClintock's record of 28:54.77.

NEXT UP: DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS, AND OHIO
The Boilermakers are on to a trio of meets next weekend. Purdue travels to the Texas Relays from March 29-April 1 in Austin, Texas, and the Bobcat Invitational from March 30-April 1 in San Marcos, Texas, along with the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational from March 31-April 1 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
