WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Shyanne Sellers hit a 3-pointer as time expired to lift No. 20/21 Maryland to a 77-74 win over Purdue in Mackey Arena on Thursday night. The loss dropped Purdue to 8-2 on the year, 1-1 in Big Ten play, and snapped a three-game winning streak.

In a game that featured nine lead changes and five ties, Purdue shot 55.3% from the field and knocked down seven 3-pointers. Maryland (8-3, 1-1) notched a 41.7% shooting clip and connected on 10 long-range shots.

Abbey Ellis paced the Boilermakers off the bench with 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting. Lasha Petree kept her streak of double-digit games alive with 14 points. The fifth-year senior has scored in double figures in every game this season.

Cassidy Hardin went 3-for-6 from behind the arc to tally 11 points, and Caitlyn Harper chipped in 10 points on a perfect 4-of-4 shooting from the floor.

Maryland, likewise, put four players in double figures, paced by Abbey Meyers' 19 points off the bench.

While Purdue notched its fifth game with a shooting percentage above 50%, turnovers allowed the Terrapins to stay in the game. Purdue committed 22 on the tight, which turned into 25 points for the visitors.

Petree tallied 13 of her points in the first half, as Purdue shot 51.7% from the field.  Despite the strong shooting start, the Boilermakers committed 13 turnovers over the opening 20 minutes that kept the lead from growing to more than six points. Defensively, the Boilermakers kept Maryland to a 37.5% clip in the first half

Fouls shortened the third quarter with the two sides combining for 14 whistles. Purdue went 6-of-10 at the line to Maryland's 7-of-9 mark. The Boilermakers carried a 61-57 lead into the fourth.

The Terrapins fired back to start the final frame with a 7-2 run, eventually building up a four-point lead midway through the period.

Ellis then lifted Mackey Arena to its feet with eight straight points, including a pair of 3-pointers, to put Purdue ahead by four with 3:26 to play. Her last triple was the last field goal the Boilermakers scored.

The Terrapins countered in the final minutes with a 3-pointer by Brinae Alexander and a jumper by Meyers to take a one-point lead with two minutes to play. Petree split a pair of free throws to tie the game with 1:05 to play. Both clubs stood firm on the next two offensive possessions, before Sellers found a sliver of space for the game winner.
