WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue women's basketball team added a veteran guard to its ranks on Tuesday, welcoming in graduate transfer Lasha Petree for her final year of eligibility in 2022-23. Petree played three seasons at Bradley before joining Rutgers for the 2021-22 campaign.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. The Purdue women's basketball team added a veteran guard to its ranks on Tuesday, welcoming in graduate transfer Lasha Petree for her final year of eligibility in 2022-23. Petree played three seasons at Bradley before joining Rutgers for the 2021-22 campaign.

"Lasha is a great addition to our family," head coach Katie Gearlds said. "She brings a lot of energy and skill as a pure scorer. We're excited to watch her show off her size, versatility and experience as an impact player for us. Purdue fans are going like watching Lasha in the old gold and black."

Over four seasons between Bradley and Rutgers, Petree averaged 13.9 points, 1.2 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game over 119 outings. She knocked down 214 triples at a 32.7% clip, while shooting 37.9% from the field in her career. She will enter the 2022-23 season with 1,655 points.

Petree spent the 2021-22 season at Rutgers, where she averaged 8.3 points, 3.2 rebounds 1.0 assists and 1.1 steals per game. She set career highs with 39.1% shooting from the field and 38.4% from behind the arc.  

Prior to her time in Piscataway, N.J., Petree put together an impressive three-year career at Bradley. Starting 68 times in 88 games for the Braves, Petree was naed to the Preseason Naismith Award Watch List and the Missouri Valley Preseason Player of the Year in 2021, MVC Freshman and Sixth Player of the Year honors in 2018-19 and a trio of All-MVC nods.

The Detroit, Mich., native averaged 15.9 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game for the Braves.

Petree was instrumental in leading Bradley to its first Missouri Valley Conference Tournament Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance as a junior in 2020-21. She tallied 18 points and 3.8 rebounds per game behind a 39% clip from the field.

Petree was a finalist for Michigan Miss Basketball as a senior in high school at Arbor Prep, after averaging 21 points per game to go with six rebounds, five steals and three blocks per game. She won back-to-back Michigan State Championships as a junior and senior.
