WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue soccer redshirt junior forward Sarah Griffith and junior midfielder Grace Walsh have been named to the All-Big Ten Team, the Big Ten Conference announced on Wednesday.

Griffith was named to the second team and Walsh was selected to the third team. The duo are Purdue's first All-Big Ten honorees since 2017 and the third and fourth to be recognized since 2010. They are the 29th and 30th Boilermakers to be named to an All-Big Ten team in program history.

"Sarah and Grace had tremendous seasons, and this recognition from the Big Ten is well deserved," Purdue coach Drew Roff said. "They both have committed fully to their development, and both have raised their game to another level as a direct result. It is great to see their hard work pay off."

Additionally, senior Hannah Melchiorre was named Purdue's Big Ten Sportsmanship Award recipient.

Griffith led the Big Ten and was No. 6 nationally with 4.58 shots per match, and she was eighth with 2.42 shots on goal per contest. She finished the regular season sixth in the Big Ten with five goals and two match-winning goals and was ninth in the conference with 11 total points.

A native of Naperville, Illinois, Griffith started all 12 matches and played 977 minutes. Along with her team-leading five goals, two match-winning goals, 11 points, 55 shots and 29 shots on goal, she had one assist on the season.

Walsh played in and started 11 matches and had had one assist, seven shots and two shots on goal. She logged 1,002 minutes and played at least 90 minutes in seven of her 11 appearances. In her first season as a midfielder after beginning her career as a defender, Walsh also was a key contributor in helping the Boilermakers post four shutouts.

From Kensington, Maryland, Walsh is the first Purdue midfielder to earn All-Big Ten accolades since 2010.

Melchiorre played in 11 matches with two starts. She had eight shots, three on goal, in 382 minutes played. A two-time Academic All-District honoree, Melchiorre was named a CoSIDA Academic All-American and a Coach Wooden Citizenship Cup semifinalist in 2019.
