Indoor Track & Field and Cross Country Schedule Unveiled

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue track & field and cross country program's schedule has been announced for the 2020-21 indoor and cross country season.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue track & field and cross country program's schedule has been announced for the 2020-21 indoor and cross country season.
 
The Boilermakers will compete in five indoor track & field meets in the 2021 regular season in addition to the Big Ten and NCAA Championships in both indoor track & field and cross country.
 
"I am excited to for the upcoming indoor season, and I believe our student-athletes are even more excited to have the opportunity to compete this year," Purdue coach Norbert Elliott said. "It looked doubtful early on, but I commend the Big Ten Conference for their hard work and efforts to put together a safe season. It has been a long time since our last meet, but our team is excited for the opportunity to compete."
 
Purdue will open the indoor season at Michigan on January 16, travel to in-state rival Indiana twice and compete at Illinois and Iowa once.
 
The Big Ten Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held from February 26-27 at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio, while the NCAA indoor championships are slated for March 12-13 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, at the Randal Tyson Track Center.
 
Additionally, the Big Ten Cross Country Championships will take place on January 30, at the Blue River Cross Country Course in Shelbyville, Indiana. The NCAA men's and women's cross country championship meet is currently scheduled for March 15.
 
The indoor season begins at Michigan on Saturday, January 16, followed by the first of two meets at Indiana on January 23. The month concludes when Purdue's multi-event student-athletes travel to Illinois on January 30.
 
The Boilermakers return to Bloomington, Indiana, for a meet at IU on February 6 before the regular-season finale at Iowa on February 13. The two-day Big Ten Championships will be held two weekends later, from February 26-27, and the indoor season concludes with the NCAA Championships on March 12-13.
 
Purdue's outdoor track & field schedule will be announced at a later date.

January 30 – Big Ten Cross Country Championships – Blue River Cross Country Course, Shelbyville, Indiana

The Boilermakers return to competition after a record-setting 2019-20 cross country and indoor track & field season. The team earned a total of seven All-America accolades and 10 All-Big Ten honors, broke five school records and set one Big Ten record. The men's cross country team collected its highest national ranking in program history, at No. 9, while the men's 60-meter dash squad was ranked No. 1 in the final national rankings. Elliott also was named the Great Lakes Region Men's Coach of the Year.
 
The men's cross country team placed 11th at the NCAA Championships, its best finish since 1950, and won the squad's first-ever regional title. On the indoor track, Purdue won three individual Big Ten titles, one silver medal and five bronze medals. Five Boilermakers earned NCAA berths as one of the top 16 competitors in the nation in their respective events.
