WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue men's tennis coach announced the addition of Rohan Sachdev to the roster ahead of the 2021-22 campaign. Sachdev, a five-star recruit per Tennis Recruiting Network, will join the Boilermakers from Cary, N.C.

Purdue now has two TRN five-star recruits, including Gabriele Brancatelli who signed back in November.

"We're thrilled to welcome Rohan to our program," Gajdzik said. "He is an incredibly talented tennis player, an amazing student and a high-character individual, all traits that we want in our program. We look forward to watching his impact going forward and cannot wait for him to get on campus."

Sachdev currently sits as the No. 35-ranked player in the nation by TRN, No. 9 in the Tennis RPI and No. 12 in the Boys 18 USTA National Rankings. His highest ranking was all the way up at No. 2 in the Tennis RPI last season.

His junior career has been marked by a string of impressive victories, reaching 77 finals during his USTA career and winning 37 singles and 13 doubles titles. Sachdev's titles include the 2019 Kalamazoo Boys 16s National Hard Court championships and the NCHSAA Class 4A Dual-Team State Championship as a freshman.

Sachdev has a Universal Tennis Rating of 12.09 and defeated ITA No. 24 and World College UTR No. 1 Alexis Galarneau from NC State at the Raleigh Tennis Association UTR Championships in 2020.

According to TRN, Sachdev is 47-17 in singles over the last year with a 5-3 mark against blue chip recruits, nine wins over five-star athletes and a 41-12 record over ranked recruits.

Off the court, Sachdev has already featured on the national stage, appearing twice at the Scripps National Spelling Bee. He took 12th in 2017 and 39th in 2015. He was featured on ESPN in 2017 discussing the balance of academics and tennis.

Originally from Nashua, N.H., Sachdev intends to pursue a degree in computer science.
