Six Top-10 Marks Set in Indoor Regular-Season Finale

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Purdue track & field team earned six marks that rank in the top 10 in program history to conclude the indoor regular season on Saturday at the Alex Wilson Invitational at Notre Dame.

With one week until the Big Ten Championships, select Boilermakers competed a total of 28 times in 17 events on Saturday. In addition to the six top-10 marks set, Purdue earned one additional personal-best time and logged five victories and seven more top-five finishes.
 
For the third consecutive week and the fourth time this season, sophomore Jessica Bray set a personal-record pole vault mark and moved up in the Purdue record books. With jump of 4.17 meters to win the event, Bray moved into sole position of fourth place in school history.
 
In the triple jump, junior Tamar Greene improved on his indoor mark that is No. 5 in Boilermaker history. His jump of 15.95 meters is an indoor PR that won the event.
 
Freshman Johnny Vanos also improved on his top-10 weight throw mark, with a throw of 20.31 meters. That ranks No. 7 all-time and gave Vanos a third-place finish at Notre Dame.
 
Freshman Marcellus Moore entered the Boilermaker record books in the 200-meter dash. With a victory in the event, he finished in 21.25 seconds, the eighth-fastest time in Purdue history.
 
For the first time in her career, freshman Amaya King stamped her name in the record books. King notched a throw of 15.30 meters in the shot put, which ranks No. 8 all-time.
 
The sixth top-10 mark came in the long jump, courtesy of senior Asia Young. She jumped 5.95 meters, which won the event and is the 10th-best jump indoors in team history.
 
Purdue had an impressive showing in the 60-meter dash, as all four Boilermakers advanced to the finals. Junior Waseem Williams won the final in 6.74 seconds to lead a one-two-three finish. Moore was second, in 6.78 seconds, and sophomore Justin Becker was third in 6.82 seconds.
 
Additionally, sophomore Sean Johnson ran a personal-best time of 50.13 in the 400-meter dash. Other top-five finishers for Purdue were sophomore Noah McBride in the 200-meter dash (4th, 21.86), sophomore Tessa Sheets in the pole vault (5th, 3.72 meters) and freshman Drew Crooks in the long jump (5th, 6.39 meters).
 
The championship season begins for the Boilermakers next weekend at the Big Ten Indoor Track & Field Championships in Geneva, Ohio. The two-day conference championship event is set for Feb. 28-29.
