WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Twenty-six Boilermakers were selected for the NCAA Division I East Regional in Jacksonville, Florida, as announced by the NCAA Track & Field and Cross Country Committee.
The East Regional is scheduled to take place Thursday, May 23, through Saturday, May 25, at Hodges Stadium and is hosted by the University of North Florida and the Jacksonville Sports Council.
The men earned tickets to the Regional in 10 events, including seven track and three field. Meanwhile the women earned entries in six events. Between the men and women, four feature multiple entries: the men's 100-meter dash, men's 5,000-meter run, men's triple jump and women's long jump.
All four of the Boilermaker relay teams (men's and women's 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter squads) earned spot, marking for the fourth consecutive year Purdue has been represented in all disciplines.
Among the attendees are Jalil Brewer (shot put), Tamar Greene (triple jump) and the men's 4x100 and women's 4x400-meter relay teams, who each earned the Big Ten title at the conference meet last weekend. Additionally, Jaden Mattox earned runner-up status while Sarah Loesch (hammer throw), Curt Eckstein (5,000-meter run) and Jah Strange (long jump and triple jump) were awarded third-place.
To qualify for the Regional, student-athletes must rank among the top 48 in the East Region for individual events and top 24 in the relay events. The top 12 out of the Regional will be granted a spot at the NCAA Championships June 5-8 in Austin, Texas.
