WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The No. 23-ranked Purdue men's basketball team tips off its 2019-20 season Wednesday as Green Bay visits Mackey Arena in the season opener for both teams. Tip will be at 7:01 p.m. ET, from Mackey Arena and will be streamed online on BTNPlus.com and on the FOX Sports App, with Lisa Byington and Ben Brust on the call courtside. On the radio dial, the game will be broadcast on the Purdue Radio Network and online at TuneIn.com, with Larry Clisby, Rob Blackman and Ralph Taylor handling the duties, beginning with the Purdue Basketball Pregame Show at 7 p.m. ET. Live stats will be provided on PurdueStats.com, and Twitter updates available at @BoilerBall. THE MAIN TALKING POINTS 1) Purdue starts the season in search of its 25th Big Ten title in school history. The Boilermakers have won two of the last three Big Ten championships. 2) The Boilermakers return two starters (Matt Haarms and Nojel Eastern) from last year's team that posted a 26-10 record and reached the Elite Eight for the first time since 2000. 3) Green Bay head coach Linc Darner was a teammate of Purdue head coach Matt Painter at Purdue. Darner helped Purdue to the 1994 Elite Eight. 4) Purdue returns just 84 made 3-pointers from last year, losing the only two players in Purdue history (Carsen Edwards, Ryan Cline) to make more than 100 3-pointers in a season. 5) In five previous seasons that Purdue has returned fewer than 75 starts from the previous year under head coach Matt Painter, the Boilermakers have advanced to four NCAA Tournaments, reaching March Madness in 2007, 2008, 2015 and 2019. The lone year Purdue missed the tournament came in 2013. 6) With its No. 23 preseason national ranking, Purdue has been ranked in five straight AP preseason Top 25 polls, the longest streak in school history. 7) Purdue will enter Wednesday's game with a 17-game homecourt winning streak, the sixth-longest streak in America. The Boilermakers own a nation's-best 63-4 (.940) home record over the last four years and over the last two years are a combined 31-1 (.969) at Mackey Arena (loss to Ohio State). 8) Purdue's 19-game non-conference home court winning streak is the fourth longest in school history. Purdue's last loss to a non-conference foe came against defending National Champion and No. 3-ranked Villanova on Nov. 13, 2016 (79-76).
