ERIN, Wis. – The Purdue men's golf team capped off a remarkable comeback to capture the 2019 Marquette Intercollegiate held at world-renowned Erin Hills Golf Course.

The Boilermakers fired a final-round score of 12-under par 276 to finish with a 54-hole score of 9-under par 855 (301-278-276) to defeat Northwestern by two shots (857) and UCLA by four shots (859). South Florida and Indiana finished fourth and fifth, well off the pace respectively.

Purdue's 276 tied for the eighth-best round in school history, while the 12-under par in relation to par was the fourth-lowest mark. The 855 was the 18th-best, 54-hole tally in Purdue history.

Purdue posted a 278 or better in the final two rounds for just the second time in Purdue history.

"I'm really proud with the way the guys bounced back after a tough first round. To come from ninth to win the title in just 36 holes is a testament to their grit and fight they displayed this week," head coach Rob Bradley said. "We had a lot of great performances this week with eight rounds of under par in the final two rounds. It was a great team effort to get this win."

After a round-one score of 13-over par 301, the Boilermakers sat in ninth place. With their 278 in the second round, the Boilermakers surged to first. Even in Tuesday's final round, the Boilermakers found themselves trailing at the turn by five shots to a red-hot Northwestern squad. Purdue's four counting scores answered by playing the last 12 holes in a combined 11-under par to win its seventh team title under Bradley.

Leading the final-round surge was freshman Nick Dentino with a 5-under par 67 to finish T-26th overall at 4-over par 220 (79-74-67). Dentino played his last 15 holes in 6-under par. Dentino's 67 was the second-best round of the day and moved him up 25 spots in the final individual standings.

Purdue's overall leader was Cole Bradley with a T-7th finish at 3-under par 213 (74-69-70). Bradley was 1-over par through six holes before four birdies and one bogey in his final 12 holes moved him into the top 10.

Sophomore Andrew Farraye recorded his fourth-straight top-20 finish and second top-10 showing of the season with a T-10th finish at 2-under par 214 (72-71-71). Farraye was 2-over par through 14 holes before a birdie-eagle (on a par 4)-bogey-birdie-par finish moved him to 1-under par and into the top 10.

Farraye has now posted four straight rounds of even-par or better.

Joe Weiler recorded his third top-20 finish of the season with a T-19th showing at 2-over par 218 (76-69-73). Jason Hong finished T-26th at 4-over par 220, but came up huge over the last two rounds, posting a 69-68 (-7) in the final two rounds. He was one of just three players in the field to post rounds in the 60s over the final two days.

Playing as an individual, Peyton Snoeberger finished tied for 53rd at 12-over par 228 (78-76-74).

Purdue will close out the fall season next Monday and Tuesday at the Crooked Stick Invitational, held at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, Indiana.
