Purdue heads to Nashville for the LUV Invite   

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The No. 23 Purdue volleyball team faces another competitive road swing this weekend, traveling to Nashville, Tenn., for the LUV Invite, Sept. 13-14 at Allen Arena.
 
The Boilermakers kick off the weekend with a 4 p.m. ET match against No.22 Louisville on Friday and then play either Xavier or Lipscomb on Saturday at either 4 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. (ET).

- The 2019 season marks the 44th year of Purdue volleyball.
- The Boilermaker roster features a pair of redshirt seniors, two juniors, six sophomores and six freshmen.
- The 2019 Purdue volleyball team welcomes six freshmen to Holloway in Maddy ChinnEmma EllisMadeline KochMegan RennerMaddie Schermerhorn and Ava Torrance. Together the incoming group was ranked the 8th-best recruiting class in the nation by PrepVolleyball.
- Purdue opened the year with a pair of victories over Ohio University (3-1) and Ball State (3-0), before falling to Notre Dame (2-2) for its first 2-1 start since 2016 when the Boilermakers defeated Wyoming and Washington State before dropping a five-set match against then-No. 24 Kentucky.
- The Boilermakers' sweep against Ball State marked head coach Dave Shondell's 350th Purdue victory. Shondell is Purdue' second volleyball head coach to reach the milestone. He joins Purdue volleyball's inaugural head coach Carol Dewey, who recorded 469 victories during her time with the Boilermakers.
- Despite Purdue only being three matches into the season, freshmen Madeline Koch and Emma Ellis have already made their collegiate debuts with Koch playing against Ohio, Ellis playing against Ball State and both rookies competing against Notre Dame
- Junior Caitlyn Newton delivered a career-high 21 kills, but it was not enough to keep No. 18 Purdue from falling to Notre Dame, 3-2, on Friday night.
 
SCOUTING NO. 22 LOUISVILLE
- Moving to No.22 on this week's AVCA poll, Louisville is coming off a perfect performance at the Fleur De Lis Tournament last weekend with wins over Western Kentucky, Arizona State and Tennessee Tech.
- Senior Melanie McHenry was named the Fleur De Lis Tournament MVP behind 30 kills, 28 digs, five blocks and three aces, while freshman Amber Stivrins was voted to the All-Tournament team for her off-the-bench heroics in the win over Arizona State.
- The Cardinals are directed by third-year coach Dani Busboom Kelly, who was named the AVCA East Region Coach of the Year in 2017.
- Statistically, the Cardinals are led by redshirt freshman Aiko Jones, who has 62 kills and a .308 hitting percentage.
- Senior Melanie McHenry follows close behind with 61 kills, while also adding 49 digs and nine blocks.
- Libero Alexis Hamilton tops Louisville with eight aces in the three matches in the Fleur De Lis. Her seven aces versus Tennessee Tech was the most the Cardinals have had against a single opponent since 2010.

SCOUTING LIPSCOMB

Lipscomb carries a 2-match win streak into the weekend after defeating Belmont 3-1 Tuesday.
-The victory was the 300th of head coach Brandon Rosenthal's career (17 seasons).
- Garrett Joiner, who transferred from Purdue in the offseason- has provided Lipscomb with 50 kills from her outside position.
- Freshman Lauren Myrick is coming off back-to-back double-doubles with a 14-kill, 10-dig performance against Belmont.
- Alyssa Zwolensky leads the back row with a team-high 93 digs, while Morgan Elmore has 209 of the team's 238 total assists this season. She had a season high 51 in the win over IUPUI.
- Lipscomb has three straight wins in the LUV Invite dating back to 2017, knocking off No. 24 Arizona, SMU and Iowa in the process.
 
SCOUTING XAVIER
- Following a 10-19 record in 2018, the Musketeers are off to a 3-3 start this season, including a 3-1 victory over William & Mary last weekend.
- Xavier has also picked up wins against Utah State and Eastern Michigan this season, while falling to Southern Utah, Akron and Wright State.
- Head coach Christy Pfeffenberger is entering her fifth year as the head coach of the Musketeers
- Xavier's top performances this season: redshirt freshman right side Lauren Hanlon had season-high 16 kills in the win against Eastern Michigan on August 31. Junior setter Ailsa Watson had a season-high 34 assists in their matchup against Akron on Sept. 6.
