Purdue Women's Tennis 2019-20 Schedule Opens in a new window

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – A challenging schedule with 14 matches at the Schwartz Tennis Center highlights the 2019-20 slate for the Purdue women's tennis team, head coach Laura Glitz announced on Friday.

The Boilermakers will play five tournaments during the fall and 23 matches during the dual schedule in the spring.

Purdue will open the fall in two locations on Sept. 20. Several Boilermakers will traverse north to the Milwaukee Tennis Classic, while the remainder of the squad will stay home to host the Purdue Invite over the weekend.

After a two-week layoff, the team will return to action for the Wildcat Invite at Northwestern on Oct. 5. The Boilermakers will then head to Middle Tennessee State for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Ohio Valley Regional.

The fall concludes with the Finemark FGCU Collegiate Open over Nov. 1-3, in Bonita Bay, Fla., which will feature a team-based event, rather than the individual only tournaments of the fall.

The Boilermakers will shift to a grueling 23-match dual season in the spring with 16 contests against teams that finished 2019 ranked in the final ITA poll.

After back-to-back home doubleheaders Jan. 18 and 20, Purdue will square off with No. 5 South Carolina on Jan. 25 for ITA Kickoff Weekend, followed by a match against either No. 35 Georgia Tech or No. 39 Wisconsin.

Following an excursion to No. 10 Washington on Feb. 1, the Boilermakers will play the next six matches at the Schwartz Tennis Center, including contests against No. 22 Tennessee (Feb. 7), No. 27 Kentucky (Feb. 9) and No. 32 Oklahoma (Feb. 29).

Big Ten Conference play will have the Boilermakers play host No. 25 Ohio State (March 1), No. 65 Iowa (March 14), No. 61 Minnesota (April 17) and No. 39 Wisconsin (April 19).

Purdue will travel to No. 31 Illinois (March 8), Maryland (March 27), Rutgers (March 29), No. 14 Michigan (April 4), No. 58 Michigan State (April 5) and No. 63 Indiana (April 11) in league action.

Purdue will close out the regular season with the Big Ten Championships in West Lafayette on April 23-26.

The Boilermakers went 11-13 last season with a win over No. 12 Ole Miss during the ITA Kickoff Weekend. Purdue will look to replace All-Big Ten selection Silvia Ambrosio at No. 1 singles and doubles, along with her playing partner Amina Mukhametshina, with a quartet of incoming freshmen.
