JACKSONVILLE, Fla. –  On the second day of the NCAA East Regional, two Purdue men's track & field runners punched their ticket to Austin, Texas. Waseem Williams and Brian Faust each advanced to the national championships following their quarterfinals performance Friday.

It only took 30 minutes for the Boilermakers to earn both bids.

First, Faust competed in the men's 400-meter dash. After entering with Thursday's eighth-fastest time, Faust produced a time of 46.08 seconds to land him a spot on the national stage. Faust placed 10th in the final East Regional race, earning the advancement with one of the three fastest times outside the top three from each heat.

Next, Williams advanced with a season-best time of 10.11 seconds in the 100-meter dash. Williams, who owns the Purdue program record, was just one one-hundredth of a second off from tying his personal-best and the first-place finisher. Additionally, with the time, Williams broke the Hodges Stadium facility record and will appear at nationals for the second consecutive year.

Meanwhile, Samson Colebrooke qualified for the 200-meter dash quarterfinals after recording a top 3 finish in his heat. The junior was clocked in at 20.58 seconds for the sixth-fastest overall time by any heat. Saturday's quarterfinals are scheduled for 7:50 p.m. ET start and will advance 12 of the 24 competing student-athletes to Austin. Preceding the 200-meters, Colebrooke ran the 100m dash, but fell just shy of the NCAA qualifying top 12, running a 10.27 second race for 16th-place.

Saturday will close out the NCAA East Regional. The Boilermakers will be featured in eight total events between the men and women, more than any other day. Included in the lineup are Big Ten Champions Jalil Brewer (shot put), Tamar Greene (triple jump), the men's 4x100-meter relay team and the women's 4x400-meter relay team.
