TUCSON, Ariz. – After 11 top-2 finishes at the Jim Click Shootout, the men's team took second place with 145 points. Samson Colebrooke led the effort with three first-place finishes and 25 points.
Purdue's current roster now holds two of the top three fastest 100m dash sprinters in program history after Samson Colebrooke won the event, shaving off 0.27 seconds from his previous-best for a time of 10.19. Following closely in second was the Purdue record-holder Waseem Williams with a time of 10.26. Colebrooke's time registered as the eighth-fastest time in the nation while Williams earned the 16th-fastest time.
The men's 4x100m relay team of Justin Becker, Malcolm Dotson, Samson Colebrooke and Waseem Williams was just 0.01 seconds shy of tying the program record. Timing in at 39.39 seconds, the Boilermakers won the event with the fastest time in the Big Ten, the ninth-fastest in the nation and the No. 2 time in Purdue history.
Boilermakers also scored points in both the men's and women's long jump. On the women's side, Asia Young obliterated her personal-best of 5.91m to produce the seventh-best mark in program history. With her 20-06.25/6.25m jump, the Boilermaker placed third. Meanwhile, Jah Strange placed second, best before going on to win the triple jump with a mark of 52-03.25/15.93m.
Additionally, the multis compiled a total of 11 personal-bests on Thursday and Friday. Leading the way was Isaiah Martin, who placed third overall in the decathlon. Martin tallied five PRs to earn him 7,451 points, which checks in at No. 3 all-time in Purdue history. With the finish, the freshman becomes the first Boilermaker since 1998 to surpass the 7,000 point benchmark. His performance was highlighted by four first-place finishes, including a javelin throw of 62.15-meters, which was just 0.09-meters off the program's performance list. Additionally, Rebecca Coan earned four event-bests on her way to the top heptathlon score of her career with 4,870 points—a 337 point increase over her previous best.
Freshman Camille Christopher made her mark in the Boilermaker record books as well after securing a time of 23.95 in the 200m dash. With the personal-best, Christopher moves to fourth in the Big Ten and 10th on the Purdue performance list.
After placing second in the hammer throw (59.87m), Sarah Loesch turned around and claimed first-place in the discus, securing the victory on a 47.76m throw. Jalil Brewer added a third-place finish in the shotput with a personal-best throw of 166-5.00/50.74m.
