WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue baseball has 13 home dates on the calendar at Alexander Field over the next month, beginning with a nine-game homestand that opens with midweek matchups vs. Chicago State and Purdue Fort Wayne.

First pitch Tuesday vs. CSU and Wednesday vs. PFW is slated for 6 p.m. ET. General admission tickets, hot dogs, nachos and domestic draft beers are specially priced at just $2 for all midweek games at Alexander Field. Additionally, $4 walking tacos and $5 wings are also on the menu for Tuesdays and Wednesdays, respectively.

The Boilermakers' schedule features a homestand of at least nine games for the third year in a row. They swept their nine-game homestand from April 24 to May 8 last season as part of the program-record 13-game win streaks (overall and home). Coincidentally, Chicago State and Purdue Fort Wayne were the first and final opponents during last year's season-long homestand.

Southeast Missouri State (April 26-28), Michigan State (May 3-5) and Ball State (May 7) also visit Alexander Field over the next two weeks. After a road trip to Champaign-Urbana, the Boilermakers close the regular season with home dates vs. Xavier (May 14) and Ohio State (May 16-18).

The MSU series will be the most important weekend of the nine-game homestand since those are Big Ten Conference games. But first, Purdue has an opportunity to build some momentum going into the all-important month of May. Posting a double-figure win total during the upcoming 13-game home stretch would seem like a realistic and attainable goal. It also may prove to be a necessity if the Boilermakers are going to qualify for the eight-team Big Ten Tournament.

After pitching two scoreless innings in his collegiate debut last week vs. Butler in a game that was nationally televised on FS1, the Boilermakers will send Cory Brooks back to the mound Tuesday. They're looking to build up his pitch count over the next few weeks as the possibility of Brooks earning an opportunity to contribute in Big Ten play this season remains on the horizon.

Andrew Bohm followed a similar path starting at this time last season, making his first collegiate start in the 2018 homestand opener vs. Chicago State. Bohm was also a right-hander returning from Tommy John surgery, though he pitched in relief seven times over the first two months of his redshirt-freshman campaign. He ended up making three midweek starts at Alexander, earning a spot in the weekend rotation for the postseason in the process. If Brooks could follow Bohm's lead again in 2020 and make a start in the each of the first 10 weekends, as Bohm has done this year, the coaching staff would ecstatic about the progress of the Ohio native.

Formerly known as IPFW and Fort Wayne, the university officially became Purdue University Fort Wayne on July 1, 2018.

STRONG WEEKS FOR McKENZIE, HOWE
The two-hit, two-RBI games for Cole McKenzie and Ryan Howe in Purdue's last home game, the April 16 win vs. Butler, led to big weeks for the Boilermakers currently defending the right side of the infield. They both reached base safely in at least half their plate appearances last week and are each riding a six-game hit streak. McKenzie has multiple hits in four of the last five games.
• McKenzie last week: 8-for-15, 3 RBI, BB, HBP, R, Sac Bunt, .588 OBP
• Howe last week: 5-for-13, 2B, 2 RBI, BB, 2 HBP, 2 R, .500 OBP
• McKenzie's last 8 games: 13-for-32 (.406), 2 2B, HR, 3 BB, HBP, 3 R, .472 OBP
• Howe since March 29: 17-for-50 (.340), 2 2B, 3B, HR, 5 RBI, 2 BB, 3 HBP, 9 R, .400 OBP

HUNTER ON THE BRINK OF ANOTHER 20-GAME REACHED SAFELY STREAK
While his current 37-game reached base safely streak vs. Big Ten teams – which dates back to April 13, 2018 – may be more impressive, Skyler Hunter's active 19-game reached safely streak vs. all opponents also puts him on the precipice of a historic feat. Hunter posted 20-game reached safely streaks in 2017 (21) and 2018 (24). If he can get on base via a hit, walk or hit by pitch Tuesday, he'll be the only Boilermaker since at least the start of the 2005 season with a 20-game streak in three different seasons. During that time frame, Jordan Comadena (20 in 2007, 28 in 2008), Nick Dalesandro (22 in 2017, 20 in 2018) and Hunter are currently the only Boilermakers with 20-game streaks in two different years. Eric Charles (2008-12) came the closest to matching Hunter. Charles had a pair of 19-game streaks as an upperclassman to go along with a 24-game streak in 2009.
Hunter enters the week with 99 career runs scored.
