The men's distance runners took major strides at the Stanford Invite after placing multiple personal-bests that rank among the nation's top times. Leading the effort were men's runners Jaret Carpenter and Curtis Eckstein.

STANFORD, Calif. – The men's distance runners took major strides at the Stanford Invite after placing multiple personal-bests that rank among the nation's top times. Leading the effort were men's runners Jaret Carpenter and Curtis Eckstein.

Eckstein climbed to No. 2 in Purdue performance lists with his 5,000-meter performance. As a sophomore, the Boilermaker reduced his time by over ten seconds to cross the finish line in 13:56.63. Eckstein was the highest-finishing Boilermaker in the meet, notching 8th-place.

Carpenter bested the nation's best time in the 10,000-meter run after clocking in at 29:18.14 for 15th-place. The Boilermaker reduced his previous personal-best by an entire 32 seconds to rise from No. 7 in Purdue history to No. 3. His two-year-old record was established as a freshman.

Collectively, the two combined to eliminate 42 seconds off their PRs.

Finishing in 11th-place was Emma Benner, earning a time of 16:34.78 in the 5k. Also finishing in the top 20 was teammate Jenna Halderman, who secured a 16:44.29 time for 19th-place.
