ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Purdue men's track & field team scored big Saturday to tie for fourth place at the 2019 Big Ten Indoor Track & Field Championships, after producing seven medals on Day 2.
The Boilermakers and Iowa totaled 70 points to finish behind Nebraska (93), Indiana (91) and Wisconsin (71).
In total, the Boilermakers accumulated 10 top-four finishes over the two days.
The meet was highlighted by silver medals from Jalil Brewer, Brian Faust, Tamar Greene, Sarah Loesch, Janae' Moffitt and Waseem Williams.
Faust became the most-decorated Boilermaker in history after setting his third Purdue record. Faust, who entered the day with the Purdue 400 and 500-meter records, now owns the 600-meter record, having clocked in at 1:17.66.
Brewer had the best day of his collegiate career after earning his first Big Ten medal. The sophomore threw 64-03.00/19.58-meters in the shot put for the second-place podium berth, marking 100 percent of the Boilermaker throwers to achieve the runner-up position.
In the 60-meter dash, the 2018 Big Ten outdoor champion Williams continued his tradition of excellence with his 6.66 second race to take second. The junior was followed by Samson Colebrooke in fifth place with a time of 6.75.
The jumps squad of Greene and Jah Strange produced back-to-back finishes in the triple jump. Greene improved his personal record and fifth-best distance in program history with his jump of 52-01.25/15.88m. Meanwhile, Strange earned his first medal and second top-five finish of the championship after following Greene with third-place on a 51-03.00 /15.62-meter jump.
The men's 4x400 relay team picked up third place in the penultimate event. Boilermakers Shawndail McLaren, Colebrooke, Malcolm Dotson and Faust rounded the track in just 3:07.93. Despite trailing in the final leg, Faust's sprint in the final straight away was the push the Boilermakers needed.
The Purdue women's team placed 10th with 25 points.

The NCAA Indoor Championships will take place March 8 and 9 in Birmingham, Alabama. The top 16 marks in the nation will qualify in each event, with the exception of the 4x400 relay, in which the top-12 teams will advance. Qualifiers will be announced at the conclusion of conference championships this weekend.
