WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – In the final home meet of the Purdue track & field season, the Boilermakers accumulated 41 top-3 finishes, including 14 first-place wins.
Highlighting Day Two of the Fred Wilt Open was Jaden Mattox, who blasted her previous long jump best to move to sixth all-time in the event. In a 1-2 Purdue finish, Mattox placed first with her score of 20-00.25/6.10m, while teammate Asia Young secured second with a distance of 5.82 meters.
Newcomer Camille Christopher accumulated two second-place finishes, as well. The Noblesville, Indiana, native placed second in the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash with times of 7.65 (PR) and 25.25, respectfully.
Sprinters Waseem Williams and Samson Colebrooke went neck-and-neck in both the 60-meter dash prelims and finals. After determining the top seed in the preliminaries by two thousandths of a second, Williams finished in second place with a time of 6.742, while Colebrooke took third place with a time of 6.750 seconds.
Tessa Sheets gained a victory in the pole vault with her vault of 4.00m/13-01.50. In total, the women's field events picked up first-place finishes in four of six events (long jump, triple jump, pole vault and weight throw). The men's accumulated wins in the long and triple jump.
The men swept the long jump, with the Boilermaker trio of Tamar Greene, Jah Strange and Ife Oketona each placing in the event. Greene secured the win with a personal best of 23-08.00/7.21m, while Strange followed with 23-06.75/7.18m and Oketona with 22-01.75/6.75m.
Strange, who ranks No. 17 in the nation in the triple jump, picked up another victory in the event. The jumper out of Indo, California, was marked at 49-11.00/15.21m.
Additionally, the multi events saw a pair of Boilermakers place second - Rebecca Coan (pentathlon) and Garett Lee (heptathlon).
Meanwhile, the Boilermaker distance runners also were represented at the Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Indiana. Bailey McIntire paced Purdue with his seventh-place finish in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:28.52 to rank No. 61 in the nation.

The Boilermakers will be back in action Feb. 8 and 9. Purdue runners will travel to Clemson for the Tiger Paw meet, while throws and distance will head to the Iowa State Classic.
