2018 Season Stats
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue Boilermakers concluded the 2018 soccer campaign with a 6-8-4 (1-7-3 B1G) record behind one of the youngest starting lineups in Purdue history. Purdue opened the season by remaining unbeaten at Folk Field for six consecutive games (seven total: Oct. 25, 2017 - Sept. 16, 2018), which during that time Kylie Hase produced the longest scoring streak by any Boilermaker, netting goals in six back-to-back games in 2018.
In addition to averaging 5.8 freshmen starters, Purdue started a nation-leading eight rookies on two separate occasions this season. With an 11-member freshmen class, the rookies concluded the year with 9,094 minutes played and six goals. Among the team were two freshmen who started in every game they appeared in: defender/forward Skylurr Patrick (18-18) and defender Grace Walsh (17-17). The two, along with senior captain Hannah Mussallem and sophomores Sarah Clark and Maya Lambert helped to hold their opponents to just 20 goals this season, the lowest mark in ten years and the fourth lowest since the program's inception in 1998.
The year was highlighted by a victory at Folk Field against No. 24 Louisville on Sept. 6, where Ena Sabanagic netted the game winner in the 74th minute. The Boilermakers also protected the Golden Boot trophy with its 1-0 double-overtime victory against in-state rival Indiana with Sarah Clark stealing the game on a penalty kick. Overall, Purdue went unbeaten in three of five games versus ranked opponents with its double-overtime 1-1 draw at home versus No. 24 West Virginia in Week 2 and the 0-0 double-overtime shutout at No. 25 Northwestern in Week 9.
