The No. 23-ranked Purdue men's basketball team hits the road for the first time this season, traveling to the Palmetto State for the Charleston Classic.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -
 The No. 23-ranked Purdue men's basketball team hits the road for the first time this season, traveling to the Palmetto State for the Charleston Classic. The tournament begins Thursday with the Boilermakers facing Appalachian State at 5 p.m. ET.  The contest will be televised on ESPN2 with Jordan Bernfield and Cory Alexander calling the action courtside. 

On the radio waves, the contest will be available on the Purdue Radio Network and TuneIn.com, with Larry Clisby and Rob Blackaman on the call, beginning with the Purdue Basketball pregame show at 4 p.m. 

Live stats will be provided on PurdueSports.com, and as always, Twitter updates will be available on Purdue's official account (@BoilerBall). 

Purdue is looking for its third tournament title in the last four years.

Following the three-game in four-day tournament, Purdue returns home to face Robert Morris on "Black Friday" at 2 p.m. 

THE TWO TEAMS
• Purdue is 2-0 on the season after opening the year with wins over Fairfield (90-57) and Ball State (84-75). 
Carsen Edwards, the Big Ten Player of the Week, is averaging 26.5 points, 3.5 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game so far this season. He ranks 20th nationally in scoring and is 30th in 3-pointers per game (4.5).
Matt Haarms (12.5), Evan Boudreaux (12.0) and Ryan Cline (11.0) are all averaging double figures. Grady Eifert (7.0) leads the team in rebounding, while Cline paces the squad in assists (6.5). 
• Purdue has done damage on the offensive glass, turning 29 offensive rebounds into 36 second-chance points. 
• App State is 1-1 after falling to Alabama 81-73 on Sunday. The Mountaineers led by six with 12 minutes left, but were outscored 31-17 the rest of the way. 
• Forrest Johnson leads App State in scoring (18.5) and Ronshad Shabazz averages 16.5 ppg. Isaac Johnson contributes 15.0 ppg and 9.0 rpg.

THE TALKING POINTS
• Purdue is looking for its third tournament title in four years (2015 - Hall of Fame Tipoff Classic; 2016 - Cancun Challenge). 
• Purdue has scored 84 points or more in its first two games for the second straight year, but for only the second time under Matt Painter
• In the win over Ball State, Purdue shot 23 of 37 (.622) from inside the arc. Purdue's 2-point percentage of 62.1 percent is 28th nationally.
• Purdue ranks 11th in offensive rebound rate (44.6 percent). Purdue's 19 offensive rebounds vs. Ball State were its most since having 20 vs. McNeese State on Nov. 11, 2016.
• Purdue has shot 30+ 3-pointers in back-to-back games for the first time since the first two games of the 2015-16 season vs. North Carolina A&T (31) and Vermont (36). 
• Purdue will be playing its first game in the state of South Carolina since Nov. 28, 2012, a 73-61 win over Clemson.
