EVANSTON, Ill. – The Purdue women's soccer team denied No. 25 Northwestern a goal during the Wildcat Senior Day. The 0-0 stalemate lasted through 110 minutes of play for the Boilermakers to move to 6-6-4 (1-5-3 B1G) on the season.

After a relatively quiet first half consisting of just two shots between the teams, Purdue saved its best play for the end, closing out the game with a 13-6 shooting advantage, including 6-2 during extra minutes.

Hannah Mussallem produced a crucial team save late in the second half to keep the Boilermakers alive. Mussallem, who made her first start as a forward this season, was posted on the goal line during a Wildcat attack. Katie Luce came off her line to make a save and on the rebound, Northwestern produced a would-be goal if it was not for the senior captain's positioning.

In the final seconds of regulation, Northwestern earned a free kick 30-yards out from the Purdue goal. With four seconds left before the horn sounded, the Wildcats produced a shot that went past the right post.

The tides turned after regulation and Purdue dominated play.

The Boilermakers set the tone to begin the first ten-minute overtime period. After holding possession, Ena Sabanagic notched the first shot at the 97th minute, setting into motion a dangerous Purdue offense. Within the next three minutes of OT, four shots and a corner kick were taken.

This season, Purdue has gone 1-1-2 against ranked teams, with its only loss coming to No. 15 South Carolina on Sept. 2. Additionally, with the stalemate, Purdue has forced five overtimes throughout 2018, all of which have needed the full 110 minutes to decide an outcome.

Five Boilermakers were relied on for the full 110 minutes. Among the full-timers was center-back defender Grace Walsh, who was stellar as the final line of defense and quelled multiple Wildcat opportunities.
