Six of Purdue's draft-eligible pitchers took the mound Saturday. Trent Johnson recorded all six of his outs over two innings of one-hit relief via the strikeout. Andrew Bohm and Trevor Cheaney both struck out five over two hitless frames. Bohm struck out the side in order in the fifth inning and Cheaney did likewise in the 12th.

Owen Jansen reached base safely in all six of his plate appearances, recording an infield single to go along with four walks and a hit by pitch. It was much different day at the plate than Friday when the sophomore was 3-for-3 with four RBI, finishing only a double shy of the cycle. Jansen made only one out in 11 plate appearances in the Boilermakers' three fall exhibition games, finishing that stretch 5-for-6 with three extra-base hits, five free passes, seven RBI and five runs scored.
Nick Evarts' two-out, two-run triple in the first inning gave Purdue an early lead. Johnny Sage plated a pair with a bases-loaded single in the fourth inning.
Ben Nisle threw out a runner at the plate from left field to end the top of the second. He later delivered an RBI double in the fifth inning. Leadoff extra-base hits from Bryce Bonner (triple in the second) and Seth Gergely (double in the eighth) also led to runs.
