Purdue held the lead for 43 minutes before the Hawkeyes responded in the second half. Iowa's Natalie Winters scored the equalizer on a shot placed in the limited opening between Katie Luce's hand and the crossbar.

Luce made her first appearance back in the net after a four-game hiatus due to injury. In the draw, Luce faced five shots on goal and produced three saves.

The Hawkeyes took control early in the first overtime, tallying a pair of shots and corner kicks each in the opening minutes. Freshman defender Julia Ware recorded a game-saving slide tackle to prevent Iowa from notching the golden goal.

In the 109th minute, Hannah Melchiorre took one of Purdue's best chances with a shot to the lower left post, but the Iowa keeper made the diving save.

Five Boilermakers secured a full 110 minutes on the pitch: Luce, Hannah Mussallum, Skylurr Patrick, Grace Walsh and Julia Ware.

Additionally, five freshmen started the game, setting a season-low. The Boilermakers entered the game averaging seven rookies per game.
