NAPA, Calif. - The Purdue women's golf team climbed the leaderboard on the second day of competition at the 2018 Silverado Showdown, shooting two-over par, 290, to surge into eighth place with 18 holes remaining at the North Course at Silverado Resort & Spa. Freshman Inez Wanamarta posted a masterful showing Monday, tying for the top individual score of the day at four-under par, 68, and vaulting herself into the top 20 of the individual standings.

The Boilermakers sit 17-over par after 36 holes, tying for the No. 5 team score Monday. While Purdue made only one more birdie than its opening round, sinking nine on the second day, they minimized mistakes with only nine combined bogeys among the four scoring players.

Wanamarta accounted for none of those mistakes in her second round, making four birdies and 14 pars as she moved to one-over par, 145, after 36 holes and is tied for 11th in the individual standings. Sophomore Micaela Farah bounced back from a tough opening round to shoot even par, 72, using back-to-back birdies on No. 17 and No. 18 to log her seventh round of the year at par or better. Senior Marta Martin and junior Ida Ayu Indira Melati Putri tied at three-over par, 75, to account for the third and fourth team scores of the round. Despite playing the front nine with nine straight pars for the second straight day, Martin saw a six-round streak of par or better end Monday, but remains tied for 20th in the individual standings, remaining in contention for a third straight top-20 tournament finish.

Fourth-ranked Stanford took over the team lead, shooting seven-under par, 281, to move to one-under par after 36 holes and hold a two-stroke edge over No. 8 USC. Jennifer Chang of USC and Stanford's Mika Liu share the individual lead heading into the final day, tied at six-under par, 138, as 10 players in the field are under par after 36 holes.

Purdue tees off in the final round Tuesday at 11 a.m. ET, playing a shotgun start alongside Big Ten Conference rival Northwestern and defending NCAA Champion Arizona State. The Boilermakers, Wildcats and Sun Devils will start play on No. 7, No. 8 and No. 9.
