NAPA, Calif. - The Purdue women's golf team wrapped up an eighth-place showing at the Fifth-Annual Silverado Showdown, on Tuesday, shooting a final-round, four-over par 292 to finish 21-over par, 303-290-292=885, at the North Course at Silverado Resort & Spa. Sophomore Micaela Farah led the final round performance for the Boilermakers, shooting two-under par, 70, and tying for a 19th-place individual performance alongside freshman teammate Inez Wanamarta.
Farah dropped four birdies in her final round to post her second straight round of par or better and eighths of the season. She played her final 13 holes of Tuesday at three-under, sinking birdies on No. 16, No. 3 and No. 4 to tie for the second-best individual round of the day. Junior Ida Ayu Indira Melati Putri had the Boilermakers' No. 2 score of the day, making one birdie on her way to a score of one-over, 73, and finishing eight-over par for the tournament.
Senior Marta Martin shot two-over par, 74, in the final round, finishing five-over par and tied for 28th in the individual standings, and Wanamarta had Purdue's last team score Tuesday, shooting three-over par, 75. Wanamarta tied Farah at four-over par for the tournament, bolstered by an outstanding second round Monday.
Eighth-ranked Southern California took home the team title, using a final-round score of six-under, 282, to finish five-under par, 859, and beat California by 10 strokes. USC's Jennifer Chang and UCLA's Patty Tavatanakit tied for individual medalist honors, shooting eight-under par for the tournament.
Purdue returns home to Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex next weekend, hosting the Lady Boilermaker Classic April 14-15 at Ackerman-Allen Golf Course.
