SUGAR GROVE, Ill. - Purdue senior August Kim remains in strong contention for NCAA Women's Golf Championship medalist honors, shooting one-over par, 73, and sitting in second place, individually, at Rich Harvest Farms on Sunday. The Boilermakers are in 11th place in the team standings, remaining just two strokes out of the top-eight and a trip to the match play quarterfinals.

After sitting out yesterday with the round cancelled due to thunderstorms, Kim returned in strong fashion Sunday as she sat at the top of the leaderboard all day. She bounced back from a round-opening double bogey on No. 10 with birdies on No. 11 and No. 16 to shoot even par on the back-nine. She ducked under par with a birdie on No. 2, but came home with bogeys on No. 4 and No. 8 to close the round. Kim trails only third-ranked Jennifer Kupcho, playing as an individual from Wake Forest, while two players sit at two-over par, one at three-over and two more at four-over par. Kim owns the best par-3 average in the field, sitting three-under after 36 holes, and is tied for third on par-5's at four-under par.

Sophomore Covadonga SanJuan rebounded in strong fashion Sunday, posting an outstanding finish to shoot four-over par, 76. She sat six-over heading into the last few holes, but dropped birdies on No. 7 and No. 9 to push the Boilermakers up the team standings. Classmate Ida Ayu Indira Melati Putri chipped in on the team score as well, hitting three birdies in a four-hole stretch around the turn and making par on her last five holes to shoot six-over par, 78. The fourth and final team score came from freshman Micaela Farah at seven-over par, 79.

Northwestern holds the overall team lead heading into the final round, sitting 23-over par, 599, with an eight-shot lead on second-place Kent State. The rest of the top-eight features Stanford, Ohio State, Baylor, South Carolina, USC and Miami, with the Hurricanes currently holding the final match-play spot at 43-over par, just two strokes ahead of the Boilermakers. Other teams still in the team race include Arizona State and Texas (+44), Florida (+46) and Furman and California (+49).

Purdue will tee off tomorrow at 11:45 a.m. CT, paired with Florida and Texas. The three teams will open play on the 10th hole.
