WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue (17-28, 6-7 B1G) evened the series with Wisconsin (26-8, 5-6 B1G) after the Badgers managed to hold onto its lead in the final three innings of game one. Kaitlynn Moody and the Boilermakers defeated Wisconsin 5-4 following Maddie Damon's effort to give Purdue a chance at a comeback in game one.

Damon gave the Purdue bats a chance at a comeback in what was left of game one as she struck out four Badgers in three scoreless innings of work. The Boilermakers attempted a two-out rally in the sixth as Alexa Binckes split the right and center fielders with a double, allowing Mallory Baker to score from first after she reached on an error. However, Wisconsin's 5-1 advantage that it built on Friday night was enough to hold off the Boilermakers as the Badgers won game one 5-2.

Head coach Boo De Oliveira played the hot hand to begin game two, giving Damon the start and she delivered two innings of shutout softball before Wisconsin earned four runs in the third against her and Kaitlynn Moody. Moody would then respond with four-consecutive shutout frames, allowing Purdue to make its comeback.

Following the four-run inning for the Badgers, the Boilermakers fired back with a three-run rally with two outs to pull within one. Maya Hughes worked a two-out walk, setting up back-to-back-to-back singles by Kristen Hoppman, Baker and Binckes to drive in the three runs. Baker's single scored Hughes and Binckes drove in Hoppman and Baker with her single to right-center.

The middle of the lineup came through again in the sixth as a single by Baker, a walk for Binckes and a single by Kaylah Hampton loaded the bases for the Boilermakers with nobody out. Wisconsin managed a strikeout in the ensuing at-bat, but Baker would score on a groundout by Moody to tie the game at four. After a two-out walk by Stephanie Ramsey to load the bases, Samantha Peltz delivered an RBI single to score the go-ahead run for Purdue, leading to the 5-4 victory.

The series finale will be played Sunday, April 16 in Bittinger Stadium with the first pitch scheduled for 11 a.m.
