WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The track & field teams will split this weekend and head to three different meets. A small group of distance runners heading to California for the Mt. SAC Relays and the Bryan Clay Invite, while the majority of the team will head to the Louisville Invitational.
Five distance runners kick off the Mt. SAC Relays on Thursday. Gabrielle Broschard and Jenna Halderman will compete in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at 8:15 p.m. ET. Jeremy Craven will compete in his first 10,000-meter race of the season at 10:15 p.m., while Grace Lachmund is in the women's 10k at 10:50 p.m. Emma Benner wraps up the day with the elite 10k at 11:30 p.m.
Broschard, Halderman and Kiara McIntosh will compete in the 1,500-meter run at the Bryan Clay Invitational on Friday.
Fifty-seven other Boilermakers will make the trip to the Louisville Invitational to compete Friday and Saturday against Indiana, Louisville, Michigan State, Notre Dame and Pittsburgh. Friday's action will consist of the women's and men's hammer throws. The women's event will start at 2:30 p.m., while the men will follow at 4. Saturday's actin begins at noon with the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase and will conclude just after 5:30 p.m. with the men's 4x400m relay.
The Boilermakers are looking to build on the progress they've made through the start of the outdoor season. The team currently has 10 top-two marks in the conference this season across the men's and women's sides. Devynne Charlton broke the school record in the 100-meter hurdles last week and will be back at it again, while also competing in the 4x100m relay, 100m dash and 200m dash. She ranks second in program history in the 100m dash and is a member of the No. 2 4x100m relay in program history, while ranking seventh in the 200m dash.
On the men's side, the jumpers have paced the team thus far. Anaquan Peterson leads the conference in the triple jump, Eric Blackman is second in the high jump and Gerald McGee is third in the long jump. All three will compete in their primary event this weekend.
