WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue soccer's Megan Kaser was an ironwoman at center back during Big Ten play this season while also continuing to excel in the classroom, earning All-Region Scholar honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for the dual excellence.

Kaser was one of four defenders named to the third team for the North/Central Region, becoming the Boilermakers' first NSCAA All-Region Scholar since Jessica Okoroafo in 2009. She entered her senior season with a 3.70 grade-point average as a pre-med major.

Kaser was one of 10 Purdue players to see action in every game this fall. She made 15 starts, going the distance at center back in 13 of those games. Beginning with the Sept. 4 game at Dayton, she finished her collegiate career having played 1,118 consecutive minutes.

Slated to graduate in the spring, Kaser plans to continue her education in health care ââ'¬" either in medical school or a physician's assistant graduate program.

She was among Purdue's 14 Academic All-Big Ten honorees this fall, earning the accolade for the third time in her career. She was also part of a large senior class that collectively excelled in the classroom. Nine of the 14 Academic All-Big Ten honorees were seniors, with six of those student-athletes being recognized for the third time.

Kaser was Purdue's Big Ten Sportsmanship Honoree this fall and was not issued a yellow card as a senior. She helped the Boilermakers shut out Illinois and Maryland and compile a 1.16 goals against average over the final four games of the season. The Boilermakers played nine games against NCAA Tournament qualifiers. The Carmel, Indiana, native finished her career having started 35 of the 65 games in which she played. She made the majority of her starts as a freshman (13) and senior (15), but started at least three games every year.

The NSCAA's All-North/Central Region Scholar teams featured players from nine states and 10 conferences. Kaser was one of 13 players from the Big Ten recognized in the North/Central Region.
