INDIANAPOLIS -- Purdue divers Steele Johnson and Joe Cifelli finished 1-2 among a field of 32 divers on the 1-meter springboard Friday at the House of Champions Invitational hosted by IUPUI.

The competition came down to the sixth and final dive. Cifelli took a three-point lead into the final dive, but Johnson outscored him 78.4 to 73.6 in the final round to win the event. Both divers performed the same dive in the sixth round, a forward 2 1/2 somersault pike with a twist.

The 2016 Olympian earned a higher score in each round as the competition progressed. Cifelli's top score (76.5) came in round four, extending his lead to 6.7 points at the time.

Meixner and Reese both got off to solid starts on 3-meter, but struggled on their fourth dives. Both had list-low scores in the 30s in the fourth round. Meixner finished strong with a list-high score of 56.7 in the final round. Reese's top score (60) was in round two.

Loschiavo missed his third dive and did not receive a score. However, the freshman finished strong with a list-best score of 71.3 in the final round. He averaged an award of 57.6 on the five dives he did complete.
