WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Ohio State scored in the opening eight minutes of both halves, defeating Purdue women's soccer 4-1 Sunday for its first win at Folk Field since 2010.

The game was played in front of Folk Field-record crowd of 1,712 fans on the fourth annual GLRSA/Boilers FC youth soccer day. The local youth soccer groups have helped produce a crowd of over 1,300 fans each of last four years. But this year's record crowd exceeded the benchmark from last season by over 200 fans.

Gianna Milaro was among Purdue's 12 seniors honored before the game and scored her second goal of the season in the 75th minute. But the Boilermakers (3-10, 1-6 B1G) trailed 4-0 at that point.

Sammy Edwards opened the scoring in the eighth minute with her fourth goal of the season and later assisted on the first of Nichelle Prince's two goals early in the second half. Prince scored two minutes and 26 seconds apart to put the game away for the visiting side.

The Buckeyes (9-4-2, 3-2-2 B1G) scored in the eighth, 39th, 53rd and 55th minutes. They scored eight goals in their wins at Maryland and Purdue this week. The Boilermakers host Maryland for the first time Thursday.

Milaro scored off an assist from Breana Robbins as Purdue took advantage of an OSU turnover in the visiting side's own third of the field. Milaro scored from the right side of the 18-yard box from about 12 yards out. She also scored in the win at Illinois last month.

Edwards scored with a header inside the right post after a right-to-left cross from Nicole Miyashiro. Early in the second half, Edwards played a through ball to Prince that set up a 1-v-1 opportunity against goalkeeper Erika Yohn, who took over in net to begin the second half.

Morgan Wolcott scored with a shot into the bottom right corner from the top of the 18-yard box in the 39th minute after Purdue failed to clear a scramble. Prince's second goal was scored from the left side of the 18-yard box into the top right corner of the net.

Senior Megan Kaser was the Boilermakers' lone field player to go the distance, doing so for the eighth consecutive game. Lydia Brosnahan logged 54 minutes to lead the Purdue reserves.

The Boilermakers had not surrendered four goals at home since an October 2013 loss to No. 24 Nebraska. The last three Purdue-OSU games dating back to 2014 have featured a combined 14 goals. The Boilermakers also conceded a goal in the opening 10 minutes in losses at Baylor, Dayton and Iowa this year.

Thursday's Purdue-Maryland game is set for 7 p.m.
