GOLF, Ill. - The 16th-ranked Purdue women's golf team battled one of the nation's most outstanding tournament fields Monday and Tuesday, finishing sixth at the Windy City Collegiate Classic, hosted by Northwestern at the Glen View Club. Senior August Kim and junior Linn Andersson were extremely impressive over the two-day event, posting matching 54-hole marks of four-under, 212, to tie for fourth place in the individual standings.

Andersson posted an outstanding performance, shooting under par in each of the last two rounds to post a new collegiate best for 54 holes. She dropped in four birdies over the last 18, including three on the front side, and played bogey-free golf over the final 15 holes of the day. Kim played flawless Tuesday, carding 16 pars and a pair of birdies for her second round of two-under, 70, in the tournament. Through two events this season, Kim flaunts and impressive stroke average of 71.7 strokes per round.

Junior Marta Martin and sophomore Ida Ayu Indira Melati Putri posted the final two team scores of the day as Martin finished two-over, 74, while Putri was six-over, 78. Martin was clutch down the stretch, sinking seven pars and a much-needed birdie on No. 16 to finish the tournament, and reversing her woes over the final four holes from Monday's rounds. After a solid opening-36, Putri struggled Tuesday, but came up with a much-needed birdie on No. 17 and a par on No. 18 to close the day.

Ninth-ranked Georgia ran away with the team title, finishing -10, 854, and besting second-place Stanford by four strokes. However, the Cardinal came away with the individual medalist as a late surge and final-round -5, 67, pushed Andrea Lee past Georgia's Bailey Tardy. Lee birdied four of the final seven holes to finish -10, 206, for the tournament, while Tardy turned in a double bogey on No. 17 to drop from the top spot and finish one shot behind Lee.

The Boilermakers wrap up their fall slate in three weeks, heading to the Landfall Tradition at UNC Wilmington on Oct. 28.
