WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Seven members of Purdue swimming & diving will be competing at summer national championship meets this month in Minnesota and Georgia.

Swimmers Marat Amaltdinov, Allie Davis, Emily Meckstroth, Kaersten Meitz and Joe Young are scheduled to race at USA Swimming's U.S. Open, set for Aug. 2 to 6 at the University of Minnesota's Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center in Minneapolis. All five Boilermakers also competed at the Olympic Team Trials earlier this year.

Divers Morgan Meixner and Samm Reese will represent Purdue on 1-meter at the AT&T USA Diving National Championships at the Moose Moss Aquatic Center in Moultrie, Georgia. Competition runs from Aug. 1 to 14, with the women's 1-meter prelims and finals on Aug. 12. They qualified via top-five finishes at the Zone C meet in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on July 8.

Amaltdinov (fourth in 200 breast), Davis (sixth in 200 and 400 free) and Meitz (ninth in 800 free) are all seeded among the top 10 in at least one event. All events are long course with 50-meter lengths of the pool.

Amaltdinov's victory in the championship final of the 100-meter breaststroke highlighted Purdue's weekend at Indiana Senior State/SwimFest the weekend of July 21 to 24 in Indianapolis. Adam Noens (200 IM), Alex Close (200 fly), Chris Bals (200 breast), Jackson Higgins (400 free) and Grace Hernandez (100 free) finished as the runner-up in the championship final of an event.
