ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Boilermakers split a pair of Tuesday games at the UCF Round Robin tournament to end their stay in Orlando. Purdue topped New Mexico State 3-0 and fell to Florida Atlantic 6-1 in the night cap.
Junior Kristen Hoppman tallied four hits to lead the Boilermaker bats. Freshman Mallory Baker and senior Mary Gooding added two hits apiece.
Senior Lilly Fecho (11-4) picked up the win vs. the Aggies, while freshman Maddie Damon was saddled with the loss vs. FAU. Sophomore Gina Snyder also saw action in the second game, throwing two and two thirds innings of relief.
The Boilermakers (14-11) return to action at 6 p.m. Thursday against Florida Gulf Coast in Fort Myers, Fla.
Purdue 3, New Mexico State 1
Senior Lilly Fecho struck out eight her third shutout of the season, while the Boilermaker offense supplied three runs on three hits.
Junior Kristen Hoppman went 2-for-3 to lead the Boilermaker bats.
Fecho (11-4) went the complete game for Purdue, while Karysta Donisthorpe (6-5) struck out six in the loss for NMSU. The Aggies put a runner on in every inning, but the Boilermaker defense held.
The Boilermakers jumped onto the scoreboard with a run on a hit in the third. Freshman Heather Knight drew a leadoff walk, went to second on a sac bunt by freshman Lexi Huffman and came home on a double to center by Hoppman.
Purdue tacked on a run in the sixth as Hoppman led off with a bunt single, stole second, went to third on a single by senior Mary Gooding and scored on a sacrifice fly by senior Katie Harrison. A fly ball to center field left Gooding stranded.
New Mexico State got a pair of one-out singles in the sixth, but Fecho forced a pop up and foul out to escape any damage.
The Boilermakers added a final insurance run, making good on a leadoff walk in the seventh. Baker walked and pinch runner Maya Hughes went to second on a sacrifice bunt and stole third. Knight picked up the RBI with a ground ball to second base.
The Aggies managed a one-out single in the final stanza, but a strikeout and fly out sealed the Purdue victory.
FAU 6, Purdue 1
The Boilermakers stranded seven runners and were plagued by a trio of errors in a 6-1 loss to Florida Atlantic in the night cap.

Amanda Wilson (7-2) struck out three in the win for FAU. Freshman Maddie Damon (3-6) was saddled with the loss for Purdue, striking out two in four innings of work, while sophomore Gina Snyder issued four K's in the relief effort.
The Owls scored first, plating an unearned run on a hit and an error in the opening stanza. A pair of walks gave FAU two on with two outs. A single toward second base and a throwing error brought in the run.
Purdue answered with a run on two hits in the bottom of the inning. Junior Kristen Hoppman led off with a bunt single and stole second and third, before coming home on an infield grounder by senior Mary Gooding. Freshman Mallory Baker added a two-out single and freshman Lauren Stewart walked, but a strikeout kept the game tied at 1-1.
FAU took the lead with a run on two hits in the second and tacked on another on a hit and an error in the third. A leadoff single, steal and sacrifice set up an RBI single in the second to put the Owls on top. A single, a two-base throwing error and a wild pitch allowed the score in the third inning.
The Boilermakers had base runners in the second, third and fourth but could not cash in. Andrew led off the second with a single, but was out a fielder's choice play which put Damon aboard. A pair of throwing errors on the play allowed Damon to advance to third, but a fly ball to right ended the stanza. Baker added her second hit of the game with a two-out single in the third, but a ground ball to second base left her stranded. Sophomore Kaylah Hampton drew a two-out walk in the fourth to no avail.
The Owls tacked on three runs on three hits and an error in the fifth. Three straight singles filled the bases to start the stanza. A fielder's choice play at third, which looked to be the completion of a double play, allowed one run. A fielding error allowed the other two runners to score on the following play.
Hoppman and Gooding led off the fifth with singles, but again the Boilermakers came up empty.
Hoppman was hit by a pitch with two outs in the seventh, but a fly ball prevented a Boilermaker comeback.
