Day One Results

TUCSON, Ariz. - The Purdue women's golf team got off to a great start Monday at the Wildcat Invitational, hosted by Arizona at Sewailo Golf Course, shooting six-over, 288-294=582, and sitting in third place after 36 holes. Junior August Kim posted the top individual effort for the Old Gold and Black, finishing two-under par, 70-72=142, and tied for fifth place going into the final round.

The Boilermakers got things rolling with an even-par team score of 288 over the first 18 holes, marking their third-best team round of the season and No. 2 in the opening round of the tournament. Kim and sophomore Marta Martin shot matching rounds of two-under, 70, while sophomore Linn Andersson was one-over, 73, and senior Anna Appert Lund shot three-over, 75. Kim made four birdies in her round, while Martin had four birdies and her first eagle of the season.

The second round was a little tougher for the Boilermakers, but they held on to contention with a score of six-over, 294. Kim shot even-par, 72, Martin fired one-over, 73, and Andersson posted a two-over, 74. Appert Lund accounted for the final team score again shooting three-over, 75. Andersson had a team-high four birdies in the second round.

Martin is tied for ninth place in the individual standings at one-under par, while Andersson is just inside the top-20, tied for 18th at three-over par.

Arizona State holds the team lead at two-under, 574, followed closely by Arizona at one-under, 575. Arizona State's Linnea Strom had a monster day, shooting nine-under, 135, for 36 holes and holds a three-shot lead on Miami's Daniela Darquea and Dewi Weber.
