WILMINGTON, N.C. - The No. 18 Purdue women's golf team opened play at the 14th-annual Landfall Tradition on Friday, shooting an eight-over, 296, to secure seventh place in the team standings after a round of competition. Senior Anna Appert Lund played bogey-free for the day, sinking a pair of birdies to finish two-under, 70, and is tied for fourth, individually.

Paired with fourth-ranked Duke and 2014-event champions Wake Forest, the Boilermakers played fairly steady for the afternoon, making 53 pars between the four team scorers for the afternoon. Appert Lund did the bulk of the work, securing 16 of them, while making her birdies on the 12th and 15th holes. She is three shots behind the individual leader, Isabella DiLisio of Notre Dame, and is one of 12 players to finish under par for the day.

Junior August Kim was the No. 2 finisher for the Old Gold and Black, shooting two-over, 74, and making two birdies in her opening round. She made the turn at one-under after birdies on both of the par-fives on the front side of the course, but a bogey on No. 12 and a double bogey on No. 15 slowed her run on the leaderboard. She's tied for 28th, individually, but is just a couple strokes from a spot in the top-25.

Sophomore Marta Martin came in just behind Kim at three-over, 75, while classmate Linn Andersson contributed the final team score at five-over, 77. The Boilermakers are nine shots off the lead, held by Duke which finished one-under par, 287, on the day. Oklahoma State is second at one-over, 289, while event host UNC Wilmington is two-over, 290.

Play resumes tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. ET.
