WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Goals from Andrea Petrina and Melissa Casella allowed Purdue women's soccer to hold the lead twice, but Missouri scored a pair of second-half equalizers and went on to defeat the Boilermakers 3-2 in double overtime Sunday afternoon in the final game of the Boilermaker Challenge Cup.

Purdue (3-1) suffered its first overtime loss since September 2012 at Michigan State and its first at home since the 2011 Boilermaker Challenge Cup vs. Kansas.

Lauren Flynn scored the golden goal in the 103rd minute when her shot from the top of the 18-yard box on the right flank grazed the fingertips of goalkeeper Erika Yohn and deflected off the crossbar. Initially it appeared as though game-winning goal honors would go to Amanda Shaw, who had an easy tap-in score after Flynn's shot hit the bar and caromed back into the field of play. But the linesman confirmed after the game that Flynn's shot crossed the goal line as it pinballed between the crossbar and the turf.

Casella scored her first collegiate goal in the 84th minute to give Purdue a 2-1 lead. But the advantage was short lived as Missouri (2-1-1) equalized only 15 seconds later on a goal from Kaitlyn Clark. The 15 seconds between goals represents the smallest amount of time between scores for and against in program history. The previous benchmark was 18 seconds in a 2006 Big Ten Tournament overtime win against Ohio State.

After not creating many opportunities for much of the first half, the Boilers took a lead into halftime for the fourth straight game thanks to Petrina's second goal of the season in the 41st minute. The Tigers later equalized in the 58th minute on a goal from Lauren Selaiden.

Missouri lost its starting goalkeeper, Plainfield, Indiana, native Kelsey Dossey, in the fifth minute when she was injured in a collision with teammate Erin Webb. Kristen Rivers took over and made two saves in her season debut, including the top save of the match in the 61st minute when she dove to her right to snare a shot by Dagny Olson that was tailing away from the `keeper towards the left post.

The Tigers nearly won the game in the 98th minute. Reagan Russell had two chances inside the six-yard box. Center back Megan Kaser and Yohn got tangled up but Yohn was still able to get her hands on Russell's initial shot and deflect it off the left post. Russell corralled her own rebound but Vanessa Korolas made a team save on the goal line. Yohn then pounced on the ball as well to help Korolas prevent it from going across the line as three Mizzou players tried to force the ball and players into the net.

Petrina scored off an assist from Hannah Mussallem, scoring with a well-placed shot into the top left corner of the net from the top of the 18-yard box on the right flank. Maddy Williams and Makaela Nellams set up Casella's goal, which was scored point blank on a sliding flick after Nellams' right-to-left cross.

Yohn finished with six saves but a rebound led to the easy tap-in goal at the left post for Clark in the 84th minute. Missouri's other two goals came shortly after Purdue defenders blocked shots on the initial attacks of the sequences.

Kim Love and Kaser went the distance among the Boilers' field players. Gabby LaMere logged 59 minutes to lead the reserves after playing the entirety of overtime. Erika Arkans was the first Purdue player off the bench.

Indiana won the 15th edition of the Boilermaker Challenge Cup after posting a pair of 1-0 victories, including an overtime win against Baylor Sunday. Cassidy Blacha, the sister of Purdue alumna Kaitlyn Blacha, scored the golden goal vs. Baylor and was named the tournament's Offensive MVP. Love and Petrina represented the Boilers on the All-Tournament Team.

Purdue returns to action Friday when it hosts Evansville at 7 p.m.
