CORAL GABLES, Fla. - The Purdue women's golf team wrapped up a sixth-place effort at the Hurricane Invitational, hosted by the University of Miami at the Biltmore Golf Course, on Wednesday, finishing 29-over, 297-293-291=881. Junior Anna Appert Lund was the Boilermakers' top individual, shooting three-over, 75-67-74=216, for the tournament, while sophomore August Kim had the top round of the day for Purdue, carding a one-under, 70.

The Boilermakers put together their best team effort of the tournament on Wednesday, shooting just seven-over par, 290, led by Kim's solid effort and a collegiate-best round by freshman Linn Andersson. A shotgun start saw the Boilermakers start the day on holes No. 6-9, and they quickly started shaving strokes off the board with birdies from Kim, senior Aurora Kan and Appert Lund. The Boilermakers dominated the 18th-hole, shooting a combined five-under, including an eagle by Andersson.

Freshman Marta Martin, hit par on 16 holes, finishing at two-over, 73, on Wednesday, while Andersson and Appert Lund accounted for the final two team scores both at three-over, 74. Kim finished the tournament tied for 21st place, recovering nicely from a tough Tuesday outing, Martin tied for 33rd and Kan tied for 48th.

Northwestern captured the team title despite a tough final day, shooting seven-over, 280-282-297=859. Miami and Iowa State were second and third, coming in six and nine shots back, respectively. Dayton State's Tiffany Chan took home medalist honors and was the only player in the field to finish under par at one-under, 71-71-70=212, while four players tied for second at one-over par.

The Boilermakers return to action on March 20, heading to Tuscon, Ariz., for the Mountain View Collegiate.
