The 24th-ranked Purdue women's basketball team rebounded on Sunday afternoon, topping visiting Toledo, 66-48, at Mackey Arena to improve to 2-1 on the season. Junior point guard April Wilson led a balanced scoring attack for the Boilermakers, posting 12 points and five assist in the victory.

The Boilermakers raced out to a 7-0 lead on the Rockets, capped by a three-pointer by junior Hayden Hamby. Toledo countered with a run of its own, taking a three-point, 15-12 lead over the next several minutes, led by a pair of threes from sophomore Jay-Ann Bravo-Harriott. A stingy Boilermaker defense held the Rockets to just one field goal over the last 11 minutes of the half, leading to a 19-5 run for Purdue as they took a 34-20 lead to the locker rooms.

Hamby had all 10 of her points in the first half, matching a career-high, while freshman Andreona Keys drained a pair of threes en route to eight first-half points.

Toledo traded blows with the Boilermakers over the first six minutes of the second half, pulling within 12 on a free throw by Brenae Harris, 43-31. However Purdue sophomore Ashley Morrissette would put the game to rest, going on an 8-0 run by herself with a three, an old-fashioned three-point play in transition and a long jump shot to build a 51-31 lead to which the Boilermakers wouldn't look back from.

The Rockets made a small push near the seven-minute mark, knifing the lead down to 15, 60-45, but a pair of fast-break lay-ups by senior Liza Clemons pushed the advantage back to 20 points. Clemons finished with eight points, while classmate Whitney Bays added six points, nine rebounds, four assists, three steals and a block, and junior Torrie Thornton turned away a career-high three blocked shots.

Bravo-Harriott scored a game-high 13 points for Toledo, while Michaela Rasumssen and Inma Zanoguera had 12 points apiece. The Rockets fall to 1-2 on the season with their second road loss of the year.

Purdue returns to action on Friday, heading to the 2014 Junkanoo Jam in Freeport, Bahamas. The Boilermakers take on Texas Tech in the opening round and then will play either George Washington or North Carolina State based on Friday's results.
